Default Model 41 - HV or SV ammo?

I've seen folks say they use both high velocity and standard velocity (subsonic) in the Model 41. Is there any reason that the 41 shouldn't be fed HV on a regular basis? Thanks.

Its being discussed to death in that forum. In short stick with SV if you can. High V or hypervelocity beats it and does move metal. Peens the contact faces if you shoot it a lot. I shoot SV myself because thats what I have available to me. In the end its your gun and you can do what you want with it.

Thanks for the reply. I apologize for the redundant question - have seen it discussed, but never a clear resolution.

Its not redundant and there seems to never be a clear resolution. I've shot a little of the high velocity but not much. The one common theme, and I've seen it myself, is the SV seems to offer the best accuracy because its subsonic.

This is one of those issues that will never get a clear definition.

I belong to a gun club that specializes in bullseye competition and M41's are quite common. Everyone has a different view on high velocity vs standard velocity in terms of grouping and wear and tear on the M41.

We have done some testing on a Ransom rest to see if groupings are better with SV. The answer is YES. However....the differences are not that large. If you are shooting a pistol one handed at 50 yards, it is not going to affect your scores!! Your hold and trigger control is far more important than your ammo. If, on the other hand you are shooting ultra precision rifles prone or from a bench...yes it will matter.

Concerning wear and tear.....It makes sense that there will be more if you use HV. However, will it make a difference? I haven't seen any evidence of this in my gun. I shoot Blazers out of mine and have been doing so for years. Why? Cause they are (used to be) the cheapest around and, they worked well (41's are infamous for being finicky). I did put a stronger recoil spring (7.5 lb) just to be on the safe side.

Hey!....I'm sure this debate will continue forever.....Just offering my experience.
