Default 329 PD 310grn Loads

Hi, Steve here. I have had my 329PD for some time, And have yet to come up with a good load for it.Mostly i have had bullets pulling out of the case problems. If your not familiar with the 329PD 44mag. , it is only 26oz,so after3 or so rounds they can start to pull out.I like to load the Speer 225 sjwc. in most of my 44s,But this dose not work well in the PD. I thought that lighter would be less recoil(wrong) I have been reloading for 30 years, and this is the hardest nut to crack so far. Then came the idea to go slower and heaver,say310grn./1000 fps. I am looking for posible loads specificly for this gun. I have tried every thing posible with the crimps Light, medium, heavy ,high, middle, low on the cannaler, with the exception of the Speer225, it has to be crimpped at the end of the jacket.

Steve, a couple of my friends have the 329PD, and I have shot them

One thing I discovered is that with fullpower loads the 270 Speer and the 300gr Federal Cast Core kick less than the factory 240gr loads.

Same goes for the Buffalo Bore 255gr Cast Lower Recoil load.

I think in a 329PD a 240 to 250m cast at 1150 to 1200 fps, or a 300gr Cast at 1050 to 1100 fps wouls shoot through the head of any NA beast for sure.

I would try some 2400 or H 110.

I can't comment on the 329PD, not having one or even shot one, but I do shoot my 4" M29s & even a 3" M629. NE450 is right, I can't imagine needing much more than a 250grLSWC @ 1200fps, but a 310grLFP @ 1000fps is shootable in the 4" guns, just about as hot as I want to go with them in those light wt guns.

Hi, Steve here. The 310 grn. 44mag. load is a recomended load for control because of the weight of it (26oz.) It is comfortable with 44spl.as for use , everything.

If you're not using a Lee factory crimp die, it might be of help with a very heavy crimp? Other than that I don't have any suggestions other than it might be a good idea to ask a moderator to move this thread to the reloading section. I'm a reloader, but some of those guys in the reloading section have forgotten more than I know about reloading.
