Laser Sights on a 386NG

I recently purchased a 386ng and after taking it to the range a few times I confirmed that my eyes are not as good as they used to be, so I purchased a set of Crimson Trace Laser sights for it. I had already had issues with it shooting low with a standard sight picture and a couple of misfires, but yesterday at the range was a disaster. The first couple of rounds with the laser sights were awesome, but then all kinds of problems developed. First, when I tried to cock the hammer for single action fire, it wouldn't budge. Having read about problems with the internal locks, I used my key to lock and unlock it a few times, but at first that did not help. I eventually got it to cock, but then, after loading it back up, when I closed the cylinder, instead of locking in place, it would spin around. When I would open it and reclose it, every once in awhile it would lock, but most of the time it would just spin freely. I have already contacted S&W and it is on its way back to the factory. The nagging question I have is this. Could I have done something to cause this when I put the laser sights on. I honestly don't know how, but I was curious if anyone else has ever had a similar kind of problem. Thanks Tom

The laser sights did not cause this. I just shot my new 310 over the weekend and experienced the same type of lock up of the cylinder. I had already disabled the lock so I figured it was the ejector rod backing out of it's threads. It wasn't. Next i thought it might be shaved jackets getting caught in the cylinder from shooting 40s in the 10mm. Not sure if it was or not . . . I have dryfired the gun about 1500-2000 times and never experienced this lockup.

As for the sights, I am not at all happy with lack of adjustability of the C&S rear sight. Accuracy was ok but the top strap screws kept backing out so the threadlock I put on will be tested next time at the range.

I've had a 386PD for years and except for the ejector rod backing out I never had a problem with it . . .
