Hi all,

While pretty new guns are nice to look at, I absolutely love seeing a well-used gun with honest wear. In that light, rookie guns need not apply! Show me your scars, your scratches, and tell us a bit about how you came to be what you are now!

I'll start:

Not the best picture, but that's the best I can do for now...

It's a pre-lock 342PD with the older 1st generation CTC J-Frame grips. My wife purchased the revolver when we were in the academy (not yet married or dating) but hurt herself and didn't finish. She ended up trading the 342PD to me for a competition .40cal 1911 type and I've carried it for the past 7 years. It has mainly been an on-duty backup carried in a pocket holster but I also carry it occasionally around my small town off-duty. It is loaded with Speer 135gr Gold-Dot's.

Hi This Detective Special has a 30+ Year history as my instructors BUG and off duty gun. I was the only person he would allow to shoot it because I was a revolver guy and I would appreciate it.We lost him at 88 to pancreatic cancer and I bought it from his estate. It was going to stay holster wear and all until I pulled the grips and noticed some rust on the frame. Then after some range use there were many light strikes so it decided the issue and it is @ Colt for Royal Rebluing and refurbishment to original condition.I also bought a pair of Executioner's grips for it.When it comes back it will live on my hip when working as a RSO and CFI as a honor to him here are some pics PICT0006 pictures from hobbies & interests photos on webshots PICT0005 pictures from hobbies & interests photos on webshots PICT0007 pictures from hobbies & interests photos on webshots PICT0008 pictures from hobbies & interests photos on webshots PICT0009 pictures from hobbies & interests photos on webshots PICT0010 pictures from hobbies & interests photos on webshots PICT0011 pictures from hobbies & interests photos on webshots When it gets home I will do a before and after spot. I wish it could have stayed original but I didn't want to risk the rust cancer ruining it....Enjoy...Mike

1948 Pre-model 10

Just had her to the range yesterday. I'll let her speak for herself:

I have posted this one several times.

Model 58 with 13 years in a LE holster.

There are gouges in the cylinder it got when both of us were knocked over a guard rail and down an overpass embankment.

It took me 3 hours to find the gun in the snow.

I carried this model 58 in the backcountry of Alaska for two years in the late 1970's. After I returned to the lower 48 it often rode along in the tool box of my work truck. It fell out of my holster in an Alder thicket in Southeastern Alaska and knocked the front sight off and also gouged the barrel. Thank god I never had to use it but it sure was a comfort to have it a time or two.

This was someones BUG for alot of years,
Now it's my daily carry.
Model 49

And then there is this old CZ that's from 1937 If I recall,
Model 27 And still shoots 380 ACP pretty well.
Supposidly was found in WWII, But have no real way of knowing, Came from a guy who was in WWII and had many old treasures including his 1911, 1917, Flags, Maps and the like.
I think the finish will clean up pretty easy!

While not a Smith, I think this one has seen lots of use. The guy I got it from said it came from a collection in El Paseo.

My 1948 Star in 9mm largo.
Supposedly, you shouldnt feed her .38 super... but she has been eating a steady diet of it for the past 16 years.
My first pistol, my first carry piece, and the only one I have had to actually pull due to a social engagement.
This is THE pistol that will be with me to my dieing day.

Here are my two well used Model 28's. They both look pretty good in these pics but in person you can see more charter on them.

My late Fathers last issued revolver. M66-2. I have since given it a bit of TLC and it looks much better now then in this photo.

My Great, Great Uncles M1917. He was a Lieutenant in the 1st Infantry 'Big Red 1'. It has a hole in the holster and nice gouge on the yoke from a Germany bullet that saved his life.

Now that 1917 truely has some real history to speak for.

Glad you have it and the special tale from a day long long ago.

;)

She's a little worn out. Blood stains, nicks and all still puts 158gn lead right were you point it.:) 1961 vintage.

Model 10 from about 1980. Previous owner managed to chip up the nickel around the sideplate but I've put some honest scratches on it:

Model 49 that I recently picked up and have been carrying frequently:

Not a S&W, but my great grandfather carried this little 5 shot break-top Harrington & Richardson in .38S&W as a backup gun while he was a police officer in the 1930's-1950's.

Here are three of my vetrans.

A couple of WW1 warriors 1911 (1917) and a two war (lend lease) 1917.

And a 1940 non reg mag, Mississippi Highway Patrol that has been back to S&W 3 times.

If my eyes don't deceive me the stocks on that model 10 are rosewood. If not it's the darkest set of walnuts I've ever seen. Early style also. the butt looks to be oblong not squarish oval. :)

Love it, a different kind of Veterans Day.
I got a Trooper that has trooped.
MVC-959F.jpg

A little mod 10 that's cuter with freckles.
MVC-929F.jpg

And a 19 that apparently spent a while in the deep crotch carry zone of a humid local.

Seasoned fun guns are always welcome around here.

Stocks are Classics from Eagle, and they are indeed rosewood (good eye). The gun is a square butt. Original magnas work fine for me, but the Eagle stocks look better and I shoot a little better with them than the magnas. :)

I lost this NP3ed Model 36 out of an ankle holster while I was being dragged by a car. A car parked on top of it, and then pulled away, flinging it into a lady's yard. It still shoots great.
