I was on another forum late last night when a poster put up a nice looking 696 no dash. I have thought that the 5 shot .44 was perfect for targets and solving social problems.
Now, if I can score a 58 I will be good to go.
Here is some gunporn for those who love the 696
Comes with two grips, a holster I can use (I am a lefty) and about 200 rounds of assorted ammo.
Comments welcome, but I think a quick trip to TK for moonclips is in order....

thanks for the PM.....I can't wait to get this 696 in my hands, first time in a LONG time I have really been thrilled with a handgun purchase
 
Thanks DCWilson, seeing some of the others posted here helped me decide that this was was on my list.....it also comes with the factory Pach's not pictured in the photos...

Congrats on your purchase. I hope you never have to use that to solve a social problem. I guess most of the young officers in your department will have no idea what that is. It ain't half plastic, it doesn't have a slide, and there is no magazine.
 
they don't even TEACH how to shoot and reload revolvers at the Academy in GA anymore....

I am thinkin' I outta have it mooncliped...comments???
 
Maybe you outta set it up, put two 40 cal magazines in front of it, and take a nice picture to hang on the wall in your office. Or even put six .223 cal bullets next to it. See how long it takes the newbees to figure that out. Nice looking weapon (for us older LEO guys).

great idea....hand it to them at shift change with a Glock 23 mag and tell them if they can load it, they can have it...
qualifying with it should be fun...
 
I love the moonclip concept, but I hate it for this particular revolver.

First off, that is a very low production # revolver, and has serious collector AND shooter interest. Having it moon-clipped will require you (or your kin after your demise) to find just the right buyer for it, or the value will take a huge hit... (Figure a $900-$1000 gun, plus the price of the conversion, and to a collector or shooter who doesn't want the moonclips, you might get $500-$600 for it, so roughly 1/2 it's worth or what you have in it...)

Second, when it comes to guns like this one, I've started to look at myself as the care-taker of it, before the next collector or generations of collectors "inherit" it from me.

Third, there's just nothing wrong with it the way it's set up now. It's not made for rapid-reloading. It's a big-version of a belly gun, intended to be shot 5 or less times in that social situation, not intended to be a full-size duty gun that can be useful in a full-fledged shoot-out. So, I guess moon-clips just don't fit the concept of the gun in my mind.

But, it's yours, so enjoy it as you wish.
 
actually, I had already talked myself out of it...I have a 64-3 that I am gonna send off to TK...
I just can't grind on this one......
 
congrats!great looking gun...i just picked up a 24-3 four inch 44 special...itching to get this one to the range

didnt you hear, revolvers are obsolete... They only hold 5-8 rounds which means you have to aim, and the steel ones are so heavy and when you hold them gangsta style, they just dont look right. Now you tell me why anyone would even consider a revolver, especially in police work.
 
Sheriff, nice piece! (Crips! Now I gotta take mine out to the range next week and shoot up some of those 264 SWCs
 
Very nice gun. There is an HKS speedloader that works with this gun, I believe, (CA-44).
 
Shooter7 is correct. The CA44 is the one that fits my ND 696.
CA44-(It carries the "CA" due to it being originally developed for the .44 CA Bulldog)
The CA44 is a "wiggle fit" meaning the rounds are held loosely and can be rattled around to accomplish insertion.
Very nice gun! I hope your as happy with yours as I am with mine. I think so highly of it, that it wears Meprolite's and serves on my night stand.
