Does anyone know what a factory stamped "H" (instead of "N") into the nickled cylinder on an N-frame revolver means?

Thanks for the input s&wchad ... but does the H mean "Highway" ?

Yes, mine is a Highway Patrolman ... and it is interesting ... but the cylinder itself does not look like a nickle over blue job...but I could be wrong.

The metal handle part of the frame has what looks like was a capitol N stamped into the bottom end of the left-hand side... but it looks like a previous owner did some rubbing on this area of the metal handle so only the second and third stem of the N remains.

What also gets me is that there is no "star" indicating a factory rework.

The gun has an S serial number, and is marked 28-2...so it's an early 28-2

If you can point me to how to include photos in a post, I'll try to get some photos added.

If you go to the forum office section there is a sticky that tells how to post pictures.
Give it a try, we'd love to see it.
Added: I just realized the sticky tells you how to use photobucket. If you have the pics on your computer you can add them to a post by using the Manage Attachments down below the post window. You have to use the Post Reply button.
