I have a Kahr K9, the original, with a very strong recoil spring. Rated for 9mm +P, whatever that is. It's a good gun, and it works well, but to my hypercritical mind, it has three problems. First, the trigger, while significantly better than a Glock, is not as good as I'm used to with a DA S&W. As a matter of fact, I prefer even a Colt revolver to the Kahr for trigger pull. Second, I don't really trust the gun unless it's in a holster. Maybe I don't know enough about it. Anyway, that's how it is right now. I don't like 1911's, either, unless they are Series 80 Colts or Para Ords. Third, the strong recoil spring, while surely calculated correctly, is a bit difficult in malfunction drills. I cannot reliably (or even often) chamber a round by pulling the slide to the rear. Rather, I drop a locked-back slide. This could probably be fixed by using a lighter recoil spring (which is probably stock now), but why do that and have to start over with reliability testing? I have a LOT of good guns that work all the time. I really don't need another. I'll probably sell the gun if I can get a decent price for it and its holster and wooden grips and extra mags.
On the positive side, it DOES work, it's accurate, the trigger is better than other guns OF ITS TYPE, and the grips (both stock and wooden factory-sponsored Hogue) fit my hand very well.
