In my eyes ,the N frame in 45 caliber is what a Smith revolver should be.

Don't get me wrong. I appreciate all the K frames the Js and even
the L frames. They are all cool.

Here are 5 N frames in 45 a.c.p. ,6 in 45 Colt ctg. and 2 X frames
in 460 magnum ,which technically ,is 45 caliber.

Let's see yours ,and how do they shoot?

Can you identify the different models shown in this picture?

Allen;
You are obviously a man of discernment (AND good taste(:>)).

I am a believer although I only have two 625's (a 625-6 with 5" barrel and a 625-8 Jerry Miculek Special with 4" barrel). Here is the 5":

As a pistol and revolver shooter I am just an aging, fat, old man but I shoot these better than almost anything else I have: Standing at 25 yards;

I have a 1917, shipped in 1918, but I am just starting

HOWEVER,
One point I would make, to me it seems that all revolvers should have wooden grips.
They just seem right.

Yes, the rubber grips make it more pleasant to shoot, I don't know if I would want to shoot a 500 with wood grips, but they don't look correct to me.

Oh and I noticed no 1917's or Model 22's?

How'd I do?

Edit: correction, the 625-6 at the bottom should be a 625-7 (PP, even)
Edit2: that 625-4 is probably a 625-2, now that I look at the front sight and flash chromed trigger/hammer a bit more

My favorite revolver is my 625JM. But, for me, the wooden JM grips just don't work. They're very cool looking but I've got a more or less permanent bone bruise at the base of my right thumb courtesy of those grips. Someone on this forum suggested that I order a set of N-Frame nightguard grips for the gun. I believe they're Pachmayrs. Have done so and they're on their way. So yes, wooden grips look much nicer but rubber has its place.

My 625-7 in .45LC would be one of the very last to go!

Here's a couple. The NG shoots much better since S&W regulated the sights. It's not a 25-2, but certainly adequate to the vast majority of tasks one might encounter (even in my hands).

This one has amazed me so far in the accuracy dept., but haven't shot it that much yet.
