Calling all experts...
Been looking for a 4513 to keep my 457 company. Passing through a part of the state I don't visit often and stumbled upon this one.

It's got a couple small marks--the biggest a scratch across the grip that "shines" a bit of the front serrations. Some wear in the mag well and a little slide wear. It does have the "U" stamp.

Questions: From what I've read, the early 4513tsw had no light rail and had the shortened grip. Later models had the rail and full grip. I have not read anywhere about one like this...no rail and full grip. The rail has not been removed and the slide and the frame have matching numbers.

Would this have been a special run?

Also, what is the cost to have a history produced from S&W?

Thanks,
Lad

I've never seen a 4513TSW like that. My guess would be an overun from a law enforcement agency. Thats how they should have made the 4513 anyway IMO.

Did they have anymore like that? Want to make a nice profit on that one? Seriously, let me know! Thanks! Regards 18DAI.

Are you yankin' my chain?? :D :D

PM sent. Nice pistol, congrats! Regards 18DAI.

The frame of that gun is the right one for mounting a rail. If you wanted one, I'll bet the factory could install one for you.
I have a 4583 with a rail and love it.
Forget those small imperfections. It's a nice gun. If the gash on the grip bugs you, replace the grip.

Contract over run. A lot of LE agencies ordered them without the rail attached so that they didn't have to purchase new holsters. You can find just about any TSW model without the holes, if you look around long enough. They weren't catalogued this way, but a good number were made.

You must use the rail on yours. I don't plan on it for this one so I'd rather not have it and then have to get it removed.

The imperfections are very minor--I've seen much worse. They are no problem to me.

History from S&W

So can anyone direct me regarding getting the history through S&W? How much...how long to get it....

Here is a link to the S&W website for history letters. I believe they are $50 and how long it takes depends on how much work the historian Roy Jinks has. I have heard of it taking a few weeks to a couple of months. I suspect a newer pistol like this will be easier to research then an early model M&P hand ejector, but stranger things have happened.
Weapon History Request - Smith & Wesson

Forgot to mention that you have a nice pistol there. It is the strange combinations like your 4513TSW that make collecting S&W guns fun and interesting.

Nice 4513TSW. I am wanting to find one just like that.

How does one remove the rail from a TSW? And who could do a professional job doing this and plugging the holes?

Oh Yea!!

Pretty nice firearm! I'm guessing there's some serious grinning going
on in your man-cave about now.
