I just received my original-style, hand-carved, Tom Threepersons holster from Lobo Gun Leather. The work and quality are first-rate and I'm totally satisfied with the results. The Highway Patrolman is a Model 28-2, Serial #N96xx. It left the factory on June 15, 1970. It's sporting a set of elk grips from Grashorn's Gunworks (executioner). I've included a photo of an original holster used by Tom Threepersons for comparison purposes. As you can see, Lobo Gun Leather has created a truly authentic rendition of the original.

:) That holster looks good, he does some nice work. Looks like you have some Grashorn grips. I like them to. Don

Thanks, fellas. This holster was well worth the wait and was a real bargain, in my view. :)

Thanks, Ghost Rider (great movie, by the way :) ).

1. Lobo Gun Leather - Home Ray, a great guy to deal with, also advertises here in the classified forum.
2. Yes, I ordered mine with the smooth leather lining.
3. Total including basic holster, hand-carving, and smooth leather lining was $124.95. In my experience, that's an unbeatable price for a full floral design, hand-carved holster.

XTrooper.....agreed; that's a VERY fair price. I'll be in touch w/him soon. Let me know if you're ever coming out this way; we have to talk. Thanks again!, XTrooper. GR

Will do, amigo. Arizona is one of our favorite places to visit.

What was the turn around time on your holster? It really looks great. Love that style. Also, what keeps the gun in the holster? I notice it does not have a retention strap.

Thanks. The turnaround was eight weeks.

Like the original and many holsters of that time, my holster has an open top, i.e., no retention device. The weapon is retained by its own weight which, in the case of a 6"-barreled N-frame, is substantial. :)

The holster can be ordered, like mine, with an open top or it can be ordered with either a hammer tab, a hammer thong, a retention strap, or even a thumb break strap, if you prefer.

XTrooperSteve......I 've been back to your post here 10-12 times just to look at that holster. I contacted Ray and will be habla'ing w/him Mon morn. GR

Beautiful set up. Now to get a matching catridge slide and belt.

Looks like a set up worthy of passing on to your heirs, when that time comes.

Ghost Rider: Good for you! I'm sure Ray will do right by you. ;)

bronco45: Thanks, amigo!

Ray is a good guy to deal with, and the two holsters I have bought from him are holding up well. Great work at a really fair price!

Just make sure you see what the retentions strap arrangement looks like before you order, both front and back.
Mine had double snaps that interfered with my belt, and awkward placement over the adjustable sight(?!).
I sold it.
