New user here, I purchased (new) a 686 and a 659 back in the mid 80's. They've always been in my possession. I shot a (very) little back then but now that I have easy access to ranges I'm shooting quite a bit. Added several firearms to the collection, the 686 has seen more action lately but the 659 hasn't (yet).

Are there any updates/modifications I should have done before I really put them in the firing rotation?

Thanks,
Bill

Just shoot em and enjoy em is my advice! You may want some differnt grips or something, but those are some good classic guns. I just got the 686 SSR Pro Series and it is AWESOME!

Pychmyer (sp ?) grips have been on both for quite some time, I like them.

Thanks

I favor the Miculek grip for the 686. It is very ergonomic and offers better control and a more attractive appearance (my opinion, obviously) than the issue rubber grip.
