I read this forum too often:) Therefore I bought a 66-5 3.25" revolver which came with the regular(?) S&W rubber one-piece combat/finger-grooved grips, and also a set of normal screw-on type rubber grips. (No name)

It looks like the original S&W combat grips simply spread and 'snap' onto the butt frame and are anchored by the two pins protruding to either side of the bottom of the butt, leaving the bottom of the round butt exposed. However, when installed this way, the grips do not fit tightly to the grip frame. Is there something I am missing?

Many thanks

I think you can "break the spine" on these grips just like a book spine can be broken to make it lay open. The grips should only be spread apart "just enough" to slip onto the frame and no farther.

Unfortunately for you, it seems to me that someone manipulated them a little too much. At this point the only thing I can think of is to apply a thin layer of rubber cement between the grips and the frame, but I have no idea if this would hold the grips on during shooting.

Good luck.

That is what I was thinking. Actually, the grips are a little 'thin' for my hand anyway, and I am thinking of getting a broader, more hand-filling set w/o breaking the bank..

Thanks very much for responding.
