I have been chasing one of these for some time.
Finally found a 617-3.
Why are these so hard to come by?
When I started my search, I expected there to be lots of them around.
The very few I found were priced to new gun levels, or higher.
Just curious?
Thanks

When the price of ammo started to skyrocket and become scarce, it drove more people to the .22lr for economical shooting and the demand for the Mod 16, 17, 617, 34, 63 went throught he roof.

Even though other ammo prices have come down and is fairly pentiful, I think people have come to realize that plinking with the 22lr is a lot of fun and have kept it up. It seems like the demand for anything 22 is still strong.

Ah ha, that makes perfect sense.
I've been shooting my single six, and 34 quite a bit myself.
Thanks

I shoot a lot of 22lr...............when you get a 617 you know what a world glass gun is like!

They are not rare, it's just that they are keepers.

I shoot my 617 more than any gun I own. 22's are just plain fun. Once in a blue moon I see a used one, but not too often. Like zoom6zoom says, thay are keepers.

617

I just put one up for sale, but then I have another 6" with a box.
I just bought a four inch 10 shot from another forum member,
then I have a 18 and a 63 and two 34's a nickel two inch and a
blue four inch, my point is I like 22's and I believe they are safer then money in the bank !

Try looking for a 617 in 6" with the NON underlug barrel!!

They are great shooters...and as soon as one realizes how sweet the K-22's (and the K-38's as well) ARE...they seldom sell it. hence the lack of used examples.

I hate to say it but I just traded my 617-2, 6 inch for a M41, 7 inch.
Both are LNIB. I just prefer the automatic in this instance. I was really looking for a M18, 4 inch but the M41 shoots so sweet it was hard to pass up.
