HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT THIS REVOLVER. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY HANDS ON EXPERIENCE WITH THIS MODEL? ALL INPUT IS APPRECIATED. LOOKING AT THE 4 INCH MODEL.

I shoot the earlier 627 PC which was purchased before the Pro series was announced. If I were to purchase a 627 today it would be the Pro series. It's cylinder is cut for moonclips and you can get a very satisfactory trigger pull without paying the extra price of the PC version.
Two shooters at one of the clubs are using the 627 Pro and they enjoy shooting them.

I have one and it is one of my favorite S&W revolvers. Has an excellent trigger in both single and double action as good as a 627PC that I had. Has a very nice balance with a 4" barrel. Also, has the quick change front sight. Definitely, of the best that current S&W production offers.

I also had a 627 PC, and I was very pleased with that gun. The one you're considering is also IDPA legal which the PC 627 isn't with it's 5" barrel which also accounts for the weight difference.
Below are a couple of 627 PC review links, and some comments I made on another thread for whatever they're worth. I will say the second rose-wood grip that comes standard with the PC version was by far my favorite.
I competed successfully with the 627 in IDPA with full moon clips in Anniston, AL loading .38 (the full moon clips don't work as well with .357 and I'd recomend a speedloader for the longer heavier .357). My competition was was unofficial because the 5" barrel exceeds the maximum IDPA allowable, and I didn't follow the 6 shot maximum for revolvers. I was just working on proficiency. People loved to look at and shoot that revolver.
The trigger action was pretty good as delivered, but I had it tuned some more. Very intimidating gun compared to the Glock 22 my agency requires, but I never used it in an LE context.
Finally, I found Jerry Miceluk's (spelling) instructional DVD indispensable for firing a wheel gun fast.
A very positive review of PC 627 revolver is at: Smith & Wesson Model 627-5 and another that is critical of the weapon for IPSC speed gun competition but otherwise favorable is at December, 97 IPSC.

I just got one. I haven't had the opportunity as yet to shoot it, but while it was in its 10-day Kalifornia Jail, I added a Dawson Precision front Trijicon night sight (.240" tall), a set of Hogue X-Frame grips (sold by S&W on their website) and the shallow V-rear sight (also sold by S&W).
The sight set-up is fast and offers precision. The grip will soak up even more recoil from the 3500 rounds of Speer Blazer Brass 158gr JHP Magnums (SKU #5207) that I shoot.
The gun strikes me as a wonderful compromise betwixt the Performance Center and the sometimes-present 627 4-inch guns. The action is nearly perfect. I plan to augment it by:
--Gentle polishing of the rebound slide (for smoothness in the trigger)
--Addition of a Power Custom extended firing pin (for ignition reliability)
--Mag-Na-Port Combat Trigger modification (to take the .500" trigger down to a more shooter-friendly .312" width)
The gun is a decent example of S&W craftsmanship. I like the older (pre MIM and ILS) guns, but this one is special. Haven't really heard any bad gripes...Just nice-to-have and happy-to-glad changes.
Bottom Line: I like it. I use the 5-shot speedloaders instead of the Full Moon Clips. With .357 Magnums, they faster.

As it was explained to me the pin dimensions are the same so the same spring and keeper pin. The difference is in the slot that allows for further travel is elongated to allow a harder strike on the primer, especially with moon clip usage. Congrats on the new revolver
