I have the chance to aquire one of these in trade in a 6 or 6.5 inch barrel and I have done some research and they seem to be great revolvers and accurate also the only thing I am not sure about is I was told it is magna ported? does that lower the value of the gun? or is it ok? any info would be greatly appreciated about thgun & magna porting thanks

If it came that way from the factory them it would raise the value if it was done later on then it would lower the value some.

Having followed the DX's and read everything I've found on DX's since they came out without seeing any reference to factory ported DX's I presume the one for sale is not the unheard of rare exception. DX's are not uncommon enough to have any "collector value" if they've been altered, but DX's are usually bought for target shooting or hunting so it just depends on whether the you like the porting. If you like the porting so much that you would have had it done yourself you might view the gun as worth a little premium, but I hate porting so I'd just wait until I found an unaltered gun or only buy the ported one at an unusually low price.
Consider what stocks the gun has as you judge its price. DX's were packaged with two sets of stocks: ruber Hogues and smooth fingergrooved wood combats. The combats sell seperately for $100 to $150 and are often missing from the DX's offered for sale or they have been replaced with similiar looking less valuable stocks.

Something to remember. As Classics and Classic DX's continue to be "discovered" and slowly escalate in value as collectible objects, your altered one will still be a nice shooter.
