I stumbled on a used but good condition FHP marked 4" Model 66 no dash with SS rear sight and original target grips today.
It has some scratches but still locks up tight.

I remember some talk about FHP marked nickel Model 28's but not Model 66's.

Does the FHP marking affect its value ?
Any help is appreciated

Did you buy it? and if not where is it for sale at??

He He...

No pics yet as I dont have it.
Trying to determine if a FHP "Florida Highway Patrol" Model 66 should carry any premium over a regular non FHP marked gun.

Im not specifically looking for an FHP gun, Just a no dash Model 66.

I on the other hand am looking for a FHP, but condition does not determine the price in my case since it will be put into a collection, displayed but not fired. So some people would say that the price should be low because of the marking ( hint, hint) , but in reality if it is a shooter, and it is the right price go for it. Good Luck

Got a NIB stainless site Model 66 to trade?
He He...

Police markings will add value to a collector seeking that gun, and detract value to most others.

The FHP used a variety of revolvers over the years, in nickel and later in stainless. The 28s are a prize as only 200 or so were made and in addition to being in nickel I believe they also have 5" barrels.

I got this in 1989 from a wholesaler dumping surplus police revolvers. I paid $215 without seeing it and what arrived was an unfired, never carried gun. There are a couple other forum members who have one like it.

RISP

Saw a 6" model 10-5 marked RISP for $275 on a Fl gun net...
Think he was somewhere near Daytona.
will try to fwd details if I find them..
blueing was rough but mech sound, non diamond wood grips

SaxonPig, very sharp looking Model 27. I have a NIB 27-2 Nickel 4" that is marked APPD, I think that is Avon Park, Fl. Bought it in Ga about ten years ago.

If you acquire the pistol I'm sure everyone here would love to see some pictures.

A friend of mine, who is a sergeant with FHP still misses his Mdl 19 which he used to shoot an armed felon many years ago. When FHP transitioned from revolvers to semi-autos he didn't have the money to buy his weapon. It wore a 5" barrel from what he tells me.

If anyone here knows I would be interested in finding out what pistols FHP has carried over the years. This is the list I have currently.

S&W Mdl 19, Mdl 27, Mdl 28, (Mdl 66?)
Colt Python, Colt Trooper
Beretta 92 & 96G
Glock 37(current issue)

The Trooper .357's were 5" nickel guns. I just recently fell into an FHP stamped Trooper MK III .357 also in nickel with a 5" tube. I never knew they issued MK III's. The Pythons were nickel 4"'ers.
