Has anyone seen some of these sights from cylinder and slide or sdm that replaces your adj sight with a kinda fixed sight!? Opinions?

Rear Sights

I have the SDM rear sights on all my smith's. Scoot over at SDM will help you set up the sights , he does awesome work.

The ones from C/S great but they only make them for the newer Smiths you have to have them fitted to the newer Smiths

Those C&R fixed sights look great. Would love to put one on my 627! Seems like a real wise choice for those CC'ing their Smith.

The SDM fixed rears are well made and give a good sight picture.

However, so do the S&W factory rears, and I have never broken one.
I would use the SDM fixed rear if it came on a gun, but I am NOT going to pay to replace the factory adjustables with one.

What does "SDM" stand for (or maybe I should ask who it is) and is there a link to look at their offerings?

I would be concerned the sight would not be regulated to POA vs. POI.

My solution to this, is just to buy mostly fixed sight revolvers:D

I have a 581 that will make a believer out of anyone who thinks fixed sight .357's aren't as good as stuff like 586's, etc. This thing shoots so tight and dead on to POA you don't even need adjustable sights.

Unless you're a cop or security guard, most concealed or open carry uses won't entail bashing the sights off door jambs and weapons lockers every day.

Maybe not every day, but I've banged mine pretty hard at times. People kinda look at you funny when you bump something with your hip and it goes "clang".

I have owned a M10 and a M60 with fixed sights and neither would shoot to POA. My favorites all have adj. sights and for 40 yrs. they were never a problem. I suspect we just become accustomed to and deal with what we are comfortable with.

I have been pretty lucky with fixed sight revolvers, all my Ruger and S&W's hit to point of aim, maybe one or two out of dozens that I own are maybe off by 1" or so at 25 yards which is more than good enough for a duty gun.

I have one fixed sight Colt, a Police Postive which is so far off POA to POI it might as well not have sights:eek:
