Well i read the manual and it says if the gun does this to not shoot or load the gun... After the gun has been dry fired, i notice if i pull the slide back and lock it in the open position that the firing pin is sticking out about an eighth of an inch. I didn't notice this before putting 255 rounds through it. I am now curious if this is normal or not. The firing pin does disappear after the slide is completley pulled back, as if chambering a round. I guess another way to put it is if i cock the gun, the pin disappears. It only shows if the gun has been dry fired before cocking it again. ive gotten alot of help with this forum so im sure by tomorrow ill have a dirrection of where to go. My gun is supposedly bran new, well with 255 rounds through it... with some jammings/ misfiring that i think was more the bullets than the gun. It is an SW40F

If the SW40F is anything like the SW40VE, the pin shouldn't be sticking out. The manual actually addresses this specifically. Looks like it will be going back to S&W.

Actually they changed the striker design because of this. 2 things could cause this. 1 of them is no big deal the other is striker breakage. I would call S&W and just send it in. It's not a big deal and was a known issue in early models. Also feel safer knowing it has been replaced with a proven part. S&W's warranty is second to none. You will have it back in no time and at no cost to you.

Thanks fellas... I love my new baby. Can't let my gf find this forum.... She's already jealous of her, this just might be the deal brawler

I know what you mean, Topmut. My girlfriend wasn't hot on the idea when I bought Elvis. She has taken a liking to the King. She walks by it all the time. Lil Elvis is sleeping at the moment in my dresser drawer. :D

Right now its hard to take Vesuvius out of my sight. I've managed to put 455 rounds
this week and wheres still two days left on the week. And I meant deal breaker not brawler. My phone sometimes guesses wrong and I don't catch it. Still kind of curious about about the firing pin.
