Picked up this beauty for $375 which in today's climate isn't too shabby.

Model 66-3 2.5" with box and paperwork. The box isn't perfect but oh well.

I couldn't leave well enough alone and 'dolled her up' with some Ahrend's finger grooves. :D

My opinion is that the 66's and 19 snubbies are the best looking S&W compact revolvers. I've owned several. I just wish they made them a little tougher around the forcing cone.

That is sweet! I'd love to stumble across one. As much as I love my 2-1/2" 686 I'd love to have me a K frame snub.

You bring up a good point. I started out with a 686 2.5" for carry and it was *just that much* bigger than the 66 to make it too big (for me anyway) to carry comfortably. I ended up trading it for the 66-2 pictured below. I really didn't need another one but when I saw the price I had to jump out of principle!

One thing I did note about the 686 is it was easier to shoot and it felt like some serious hardware in your hand!

The last 66 snub I saw used in a shop sold quickly at $650. Think maybe you stole that Smith? Great price for the Indiana part of the globe.

your 66 looks sweet, especially with the Ahrends.
congrats on the lucky deal!!! you should spend some of the money you saved on lottery tickets :D

Haha!

Trust me, I've lost more money on guns over the years than I care to think about. I think this was just a case of the blind squirrel getting a nut. :)

Thats I nice looking 66. I really like my 66-1 2.5'' BBL . Nice grips I would like to get a set for mine.

I just saw a 66-2 2.5 barrel at a local pawn shop last week for $425 I knew I should have got it...I wonder if its still there?

That was way below average price for that fine specimen. Love the Ahrends too. If yours is like mine its a shooting machine.

Have the same set of grips on my 19-3. Sanded the FG's down for a really good fit and applied a darker stain. Much better grip for shooting, especially magnums

Congrats on a great find and enjoy!

Nice find, indeed! That's over a bill cheaper than you would find a snubby 66 with box around here. Fun to shoot too!

Doesn't get any better than the 2.5" 66 in a snubbie revolver! Congrats! Regards 18DAI.
