The Lovely and Charming's sister just retired and moved from California to Texas so she could spend more time with her daughter and NEW grandchild. Her new son-in-law flew across country to drive the U-Haul to her new digs. When I heard about this I simply observed that asking a man to help his mother-in-law move into his neighborhood is like asking the condemned man to tie the noose he was going to be hung with. Now the ladies in my life are mad at me again. Was I that far out of line?

Who ever said honesty is the best policy must have been single. I know these days I seem to be in the dog house so often I might as well reupholster the place and move in a futon.

Gil, I was always taught that the truth is it's own defense.

I was told that as a child also but showing your reply to your charming ladies could get you an additional week out with the dog.

Sounds OK to me. She could be the greatest MIL in the world or he could live to regret it. It was probably a mandatory honeydo, especially if he understands post partum depression. At least Mom had enough sense to get out of California before their whole financial situation collapses. Her Cali retirement will go much farther in Texas. He needs to take her shooting. After all, this is a gun forum. I hope she can handle the humidity and he the humility.

Appears to be another addition to "and that's when the fight started".

:D :D :D :D

Unfortunately I've learned through bitter experience that it is absolutely possible to be right and out of line with the women folk, at the exact same time!:D

Personally, I loved your hangman analogy.

Aloha,

I'm Lucky, my Wife agrees with me that her Mother is a PITA.

One time when we were "going at it" she fed me aline about her being a witch.
I took it and told her she should get on her broom and take off to parts unknown.

My Wife and her half sister got a big laugh out of that.

Mamma had definately done it to everyone by then.
One of the Very Few times I zinged her and Got Away with it.

Best of all, Mom lives in Virginia and we live in Hawaii. Guess who isn't
coming to visit.

Best advice I ever got was from old buddy Jim who gifted me his early Ruger Red Eagle before he died.

" Say yes dear and then go out and do what you want. When you get called on it later say I'm old and forget, sorry"

I've found when that doesn't work the dog house isn't such a bad place afterall.

What were you doing out of the dog house in the first place?

I just made up my mine that the dog had it better than me :D . Now him and me have a great time together. Getting use to the flea power takes a while :D .

"Yes Dear" is always the right answer.

Having survived a childhood plagued by four sisters and no brothers, I'm now working my way through the 27th year of my fourth marriage and can attest to the fact that the term "Ma'am" preceded by the appropriate single syllable word such as "Yes" or "No", usually works fairly well also, unless you are testifying before a certain Senator, who shall go unnamed. ;)

We have cats rather than dogs, but for reasons I cannot fathom, SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) doesn't send me to the cat-house when I've misbehaved.
