Anybody load these? I tried some today in my 5in 1950 Target. The Web said 7.1gr Power Pistol was +P, so I loaded 7grs. It shot well, with a lot of authority. Easy extraction with left thumb. I don't load this revolver as hot as the 625-3s. I'd like to hear if anyone has been loading heavy loads with this bullet.

Offhand, I guess I don't see the point of using the slightly larger, slilghtly heavier, stouter .452 240gr bullets in the .45 AR (.45 ACP) cartridge? That bullet is made to stand up to a .454 Casul.

The .451 230gr XTP is plenty stout for any velocity I can achieve in the .45 ACP (AR) cartridge at SAAMI pressure.

I haven't tried it.

But honestly, if I want max penetration and knockdown in the 45AR I load a cast RCBS 45-270-SAA bullet weighing in at 282gr. You can drive them to around 900fps in a 625. That works pretty well for that high sectional density bullet with its wide meplat.

gotta agree.......that and bein' awful pricey for use in a .45AR. The 250gr XTPs are cheaper if you want more "authority" and may actually perform @ .45 AR velocities since they are meant for .45LC. I use the 240 grainers in my .460, and they perform well, but then that and .454 Casull are what they are intended for.

The throats on my 1950 target are approximately .4525 to .453. Using these bullets and a Hornady .454 lead bullet as as a go no go guage. That is what I originally bought these bullets for. I figured that made them the right size for my gun.
