Have some cast 158 round nose but upon checking they mic .360 Is this bullet for some special barrel or can I use them in my model 28 at around 950 fps? Tried to push one through the cylinder and it wouldn't go.

Nothing that a trip through a .358 bullet die won't cure.
Have they been sized/lubed already at .360?

They aren't going to hurt that M28 at any velocity, within reason of course! :D

Keep them under 1800fps from the 6" barrel! :D

If you use them for your model 28, load them on the short side, cylinder is real short on the 28s. (maybe you already know.) I usually load SWC bullets but when I load the round nose 158s I have to crimp slightly above the crimp groove to allow the cylinder to rotate.

I once had a supply of Remington 150 gr. LRN bullets in 0.360" diameter for the 38 S&W. They shot very well with mild loads in 38 Special.

What is the mold? Have you checked for burrs holding the faces open? Are the bullets round? If not there is a possibility that the pins are not aligned correctly resulting in an out of round bullet. My Ly 358311 drops @ 0.359 so that is not out of the ordinary to size to 0.358.

Thanks for all of the good advice. I don't remember where I got these bullets so I don't know anything about the mold. The first few I loaded I didn't have much of a bell on the case and wondered why they were hard to seat. I discovered that the bullet measured .360.

I have loaded 25 with a potpourri of components.
5 Grains of some old 473AA Winchester Powder
CCI Small Rifle Primer
Federal Case

I crimped in the top grove and they fit the cylinder fine. Thinking 950-1000 fps.
