Hey everybody. I have the standard non-flip sights on my 15-22, and have replaced them with a Sightmark optical sight. I seems to work very well after maybe a K of rounds through the gun. I would like to use both iron and optical sights, but when I sight through the optical with the iron sights on the gun, my reticle is almost on the top of the front post. They are in each others way. What I would like to do is co witness these sights, not so that the top of the front sight matches the red dot, but it would appear just below it through the window in the Sightmark. Then the sights wouldn't block each other and both be useful. What I need is a riser that would work to raise the optical a little (so I can look at the iron sight just below the reticle at the post , (most are too high). I trust in the vast wisdom of all of you out there that have solved this problem. I think I need a riser about .5 inches in height but will watch here for the perfect solution. Thanks everyone.

I have an Adco holographic sight on my 15-22 and ran into the same problem you did. I put a .5" riser on and found that then the Adco sight body blocked the iron sights altogether. I solved this by removing the riser and the original sights, and putting on a set of Midwest Industries folding sights. Now with the sights folded down they aren't in the way at all when using the Adco, with the Adco shut off and the sights up you can sight through the Adco perfectly. IMHO this is the only way to go!

When you are looking through the rear sight aperture the red dot should be right on top of the front sight post. If you don't want the dot on top of your front sight post then don't look through the rear sight aperture. Try it and you will see what I'm talking about.

Thanks ChattanogaPhil. I tried it and it works fine. With a little practice it will be very easy to use both in this config. I appreciate the help guys. Have a happy new year.
