It is my understanding that screw is out of production and not readily available. Post a Want To Buy in the classified section of this forum and keep your fingers crossed.

Good luck.

Jeff:
Is your gun an original .45 Colt?
Do you have a letter?

Bigfifty,
If your gun is an originally chambered 45 colt, you have something rare indeed. VERY few were originally in 45 colt.

I believe the two most common calibers for the triplelock were 44 special and 455 markII.

Some of the 455s may have been converted by the factory to 45 colt. Others were converted by various gunsmiths.

Also I believe a fair number of early triplelocks did not have a caliber designation on either side of the barrel.

This is probably a gun you might want to letter.

If it has British proofs, it is likely rechambered from .455. I have seen at least one other gun so modified and stamped. Are you able to post the photos?

Agree, sounds like a rechambered .455 TL. I have one of those, S/N 358, but the barrel was not remarked for the longer cartridge.

There were only about 5000 .455 TLs made before the company switched to the second model, which has no ejector rod shroud; they made another 70-80 thousand of those. (Forgive the round numbers, I'm just too lazy to look up the actual figures at the moment.)

I dimly recall that the true .45 LC TLs had five-digit serial numbers. If yours has only four, that's yet another indicator that it is a converted .455.
