My father Frank, has been in the hospital since Monday morning. I had brought him in for pain in his abdomen. After review in the ER, they came back with pancreatitis, caused by gall stones. They moved him to a step down ICU and started to get him stable for a GI scope to locate and remove the stones so they could get the pancreatitis under control. The first night was rough with IV issues and delivering his meds and fluid. On tuesday his kidneys started to fail and they were able to put in a Picc line to deliver fluid and medicine.
Early wednesday morning the condition with the inflammation caused by the pancreatitis worsened and the kidneys began to work less. He was then moved to the ICU and placed on dialysis and a respirator machine. Up until that point he was awake and talking to family and friends. For the most part he was not to loopey from the pain meds but he was providing us entertaiment. He even asked the nurse for a lead test since he spent so much time shooting and reloading.
He spoke to the doctors and was aware of everything they were doing today, and before he went under he said "Lets get this show on the road".
At our last meeting today with his doctors, he is having touble regulating his blood pressure, and they are about maxed out on the meds they can give to keep the bp up. They are working as hard as they can to keep him stable in hopes that the meds, fluids and dialysis will work to help keep his bp up so they can contiune to address the pancreatitis, inflammation etc.
We were also told they they were able to lower the work load on the respirator machine because his breathing and oxygen level was getting better and he didnt need the machine as much.
He is a very strong man and is giving this his all, as he has done in all aspects with his life.
Thank you,
Frank Jr.
