Hello everyone. I'm brand new here. Discovered the forum in an article in Guns magazine about Resurrecting the Roper Grip. I love Smiths, but only have a couple, a Model 36 from the early '80s and a 625-5 that started life as a 625-3. It was converted at the Performance Center by another owner. It now has a blue cylinder and a 5" stainless full lug barrel. Nice action job and the trigger is a dream. I picked it up while I was cowboy action shooting and wanted the .45 Colt, though I couldn't use it for CAS. I love this pistol. I know, it's technically a revolver, but let's not get hung up on that. Bought the Model 36 from Nate Posner when there was a real gun shop in San Francisco. It replaced one I had years before but sold when I needed money. Big mistake. Took 3.5 times what I sold it for to replace it. NEVER sell a firearm. Anyway, I grew up in Virginia on a farm but now reside on the Central Coast of California. Also have some Rugers and a Glock, which is a sweet, easy shooter (heresy here I know, but that's what our Security uses where I work, though I'm not Security), but I'll always be a Smith man. Glad to find this forum. There's nothing like a real handgun, and that means a Smith & Wesson revolver.

Welcome from Texas McCoy. Great forum for all things S&W, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.

OK - you know I have to ask - - -

Are you the real McCoy?

There, got that out of my system. I'm better now.

Yes, I am the REAL McCoy

Not only am I the real McCoy, I generally introduce myself that way. However, Burgess is my last name and Real McCoy is often taken by someone whose last name is McCoy, so I did not attempt to use it here. I heard it so many times (it never bothered me) that I thought I would just save the new friend the trouble by introducing myself that way; it might even make it easier for him to remember my name.

Glad to meet you. I'm looking forward to making many new friends here. If you plan to come to California, email me and maybe we can get together for a cup of coffee or something, maybe even swap a few stories. The Hogue Action Pistol range is only a few miles away; that might have possibilities.

The REAL, though not the only (I'm a Junior) McCoy.
