Whats up with midwayusa?? Having placed orders with them in the past and used UPS, the packages always arrived on time. Just placed an order with them this past week and when looking at the tracking, it says they have changed the shipper from UPS to the USPS per the request of the origional shipper instructions. So I pay extra to get the package here via ups and they add another few days by having it transfered...Has anyone had issues like this before???

I have found a lot more packages arriving with this UPS to USPS transfer. Appears UPS and USPS must have some shipping agreement, where the UPS drops packages for local delivery to USPS.

You requested the UPS Super-Duper-Whoopee-Saver Shipping option.
That's what it is. UPS drops the package off at your local USPS office. Then the USPS office puts it in the pile for the next day. It adds a day of handling. I guess it saves UPS the drive to your house.

It's an idea, and not a bad one, if you know what you are getting. I don't think they ahve done a good job telling people what that option really is.

I live within 90 miles of Midway, and normally if I order anything before 2 PM it is received (by UPS) by 11AM the next day. Within the past 6 months Midway started to determined if it is less costly to ship by USPS, such as small items that will fit is a shipping envelope. If shipped by USPS, it will take 3 days for me to receive it. I usually write my "needs" down on a list in my gun room, and when I have what I figure is enough, I order and get shipped by UPS.

My most recent order, two weeks ago, came by UPS and was received the next day. Incidentally it contained a couple tins of RWS .177 pellets. The pellets I looked at in Cabella's (K C), in Dec. that they had priced at $12.99 for a tin of 250. I got from Midway for $3.99 for a tin of 500. The only time I bother to shop at Cabella's is to look at the used guns, which are usually priced way too high also.

It's called UPS basic, personally I don't like it and won't use it again. I placed an order last Sunday, usually the order will arrive on the next Friday. Following the tracking all week the expected delivery day was SATURDAY, well we all know UPS (at least here) does not deliver on Saturday, so how would the P.O. get the delivery? Now I see this morning the delivery has been changed to next Monday the 22nd. A full 8 days en-route. For 5 more $ the order would have been here Friday, today. Won't make that mistake again.

My mailman just happened to deliver 2 packages yesterday that had been shipped UPS. I asked him about this and he stated yes, it came to the PO by UPS (along with a lot of other packages) and the PO takes it from there. He assumed the USPO is compensated by UPS and that this manner of delivery is cheaper than paying a driver the run all over the countryside looking for addresses. I live in an urban area surrounded by rural. I've found this adds one day to the delivery time, not bad since the UPS usually delivers around 6PM. So I have to wait to 10AM the next day. Works for me.

Well the delivery I mentioned in my above post has now been rescheduled for delivery on Tuesday.
I live about 12 miles north of I-10 in the Arizona desert. The package passed me going West bound to Vernon CA. For some reason it did not stop in Phoenix. Then it went East bound BACK TO Phoenix. Now it has to go to Blythe CA for our delivery driver to take it to the P.O. in Bouse. So that means another trip EAST bound to Blythe, CA. so by the time this package gets to my P.O. it will have passed south of the house four times, Maybe I should call UPS and tell them to throw the package out at Mile Post 47 and I'll drive down and pick it up along side the highway. This cheaper way of transport has resulted in an additional four days time for delivery. I will not use UPS Basic again.:(

I believe its the new wave of the shipping companies trying to work together to save $$$ costs of shipping on there part. I'm sure our packages will end up in egypt somewhere before going back on route to the US. I've been there before with shipping across the country from california to the east coast my package went to texas first on a vacation then to the east coast.

To me usps has always been cheaper and faster by itself. I prefer them over ups when i have that option. Bill

I ordered some bullets from Mt. Baldy in Wyoming that started out on UPS and I got them on a Saturday (which UPS doesn't usually do)in the U.S. Mail. so instead of having to wait a week to shoot them I got to load them and shoot them on Sunday morning. I guess I don't see a problem
