I own a S&W Model 4040 and finally decided to use it as a carry gun. I bought it several years ago after seeing it at NRA Orlando and fell in love with its light weight and beautiful fit. Just had to have it! Well, it was discontinued after only a couple of years on the market. Now I can't find any cross-reference of the model number in holster manufacturer's catalogs. Does anyone know if the 4040 has the same dimensions of any current, or better-known, model that would be in holster catalogs? I prefer a top-quality leather - any manufacturer suggestions? Thanks...you are awesome!

Most of my herd rides in either Kramer #3 IWB holsters or a Milt Sparks VM-2. email either one for information. Also Ray (fellow forum member) does a fabulous job on holsters...check out lobogunleather.com I have yet to hear of someone being disappointed. SideGuard Holsters is also a forum member and does quality work as well....

According to SWSC the 4040PD Airlite is a 3-1/2" barrel, 7 round single stack, compact 40 caliber. Picture looks very, very much like the 3913LS. I would surmise that any 3913/14/53/54, 4013/14/53/54 holster would fit.

I too have a 3913, a 3913LS, and a 4040pd. Be careful with expecting a 3913 holster to fit the 4040pd. I have a custom leather holster that was made for my 3913 (fits like a glove). The 3913LS & 4040pd will NOT fit in this holster as the angle of the dust cover creates an issue right in front of the trigger guard. To try and explain....the dust cover of the 3913 is more like a 90 degree turn whereas the 3913LS/4040pd is a 45 degree angle. I believe I could force the 4040pd into the custom holster but it would no longer fit the 3913 as snug.
This may not be true for all holsters but it's true for mine.
