Went to a gun store this morning. They had a gun (another brand) that I wanted. I bought it and was browsing while they ran the background check.

They had a slightly used 36 snubnose that was clean, original grips but needs a cleaning. I could not let it sit they unsold so I bought it as well. It was priced at $375 and I offered $275, which they accepted. Waiting for another background check to go through, I saw a 686 that caught my eye.

Nope, I will go back to get the 686 on Monday. The first two came home with me today. I am not excited by the other brand but I love the 36 and plan on giving it a nice cleaning tonight.

Congats on the purchases and you got a super deal on the Model 36.

A store about an hour away from me just listed a 3" 36 no dash square butt for $300 on their web site. They're closed, but I'll be calling them first thing Monday morning.

My favorite LGS has two 36-no dash's (one with pinned barrel and one without). Both have a little holster wear - I'd say 90+% on both finishes. Both listed for $246. I think I will pick up the pinned barrel one on Monday. The owner (good guy - knows his guns) commented that it looks like it was hardly every shot. Bore and cylinders bright and shiny and the plate behind the cylinder (don't know the technical term) where the firing pin comes through is hardly marked.

This gun is 36 no dash. However where the model is stamped inside the swing out there are some other lightly stamped numbers directly above the model number that make no sense to me.

It looks like this: E10

If I can, I will set up the camera tomorrow so some photos can be taken and posted.

Here are two photos.

One should show the markings that confuse me. I understand the Model number but the stamping above that has me baffled. I checked my others and none have such.

The next is a shot of the entire gun.

I have seen the E10 mark before.

I might have a gun with it, but not 100% sure.

I was told it was just an inspection mark from the factory?
