No respect for the law , or life. Liberal judges and juries will sympathize with the criminal , who are painted as victims of society by slick-tounged lawyers.

I was sickened by some of the comments I overheard from other potential jurists when I had jury duty.

Unfortunately , with all the news of crooked cops in the paper seemingly every day , it will only continue.

Very sad thing to hear, prayers go out for thier family's.

I think you will see alot more of it, I hate to say. All of these people that say that you can't trim you kids limes are at the root of it. Kids are being punks in school, don't care about rules, because Mom and Dad don't bust them, so they think it is OK. Inwhich will cause more to do more and more till they kill someone. 50 years ago you could carry a gun to school, can't today - what is the differance.Sorry for the rant.

And kids are taught that if they are under 16 or so , they are not criminally responsible and can get away with almost anything. Parents seem to not care either.

The perp who threw the Brooklyn cop down the stairs had 28 priors, mainly for robbery and burglary. What in God's name do you have to do to stay in jail in NYS? How was this guy on the street? There's a few judges and DAs with that officer's blood on their hands, but they have reach the point of immunity and unaccountability in the criminal justice system. Some one needs to flush the toilet of the NYS court system and get something that even half assed works.

Make it 5. A young police officer was killed in Limon, CO about three days ago while attempting to arrest a wanted sex offender from Tennessee. I don't have a link to any articles, but I hadn't seen any mention of it on the forum either. Thought I should get it out there.

Sad news, indeed.

May these officers and deputies be at peace and their families find comfort...somehow.

My cousin was partnered that day (both plainclothesed) with the Nassau County cop who was shot by the MTA cop's "friendly fire." Man, could have just as easily been my cousin - my aunt's freaking. Prayers up for everyone's families, and for the MTA cop in the Massapequa Park shooting - I'm sure he feels horrible and then some.

I was thinking the same thing, 28 times, that is unreal, after 3 times there should be life with out parole. This is just wrong.

The Virginia incident occurred across the line a ways from where I live. Word is that the bad guy had his car repossessed and went to go "take it back". When the cops were called he decided to go to war.

You don't pay your bills so you start shooting at cops ? Incomprehensible.

the area of virginia that this occured at is so rural...as most know all crime is not limited to the city....this is such a sad situation....i am glad i did my 30 years in and got out in one piece

...the last time it was this bad "On the Job" was the mid to late 70's.

To survive you have to keep your head on a swivel and watch you six.

...and some good body armor helps the odds.

This, quoted for truth. Rest In Peace all of those who give all.
Even in my quiet little county one of my deputies had to shoot a gunman with his AR rifle several weeks ago.
That undercover getting shot hits home too. Seems like back when I was a young copper working those kind of cases I was ALWAYS yelling to everyone that "I AM A COP"...good guys AND bad guys, and just folks....
God Bless 'em all

Prayers to all concerned.

And a small reminder to those of us that carry on a regular basis.

Friendly fire isn't.

New info about the Long Island incident says a retired NYPD cop who was at the scene yelled "gun!" when he saw the plainclothes officers walk up with their weapons out and the MTA cop fired a shot at a percieved threat.

I've come to my own conclusion, I'm sure any LEO with even a little experience will reach the same. This did not have to happen at all. At this point I only hope the MTA cop deals with this properly and doesn't become another victim.
