Model 27-2 6" Original Wood Grip Question Help

I have a Nickel 27-2 6" I got last year. It has S&W target grips on it. What my question is would that have been what it came with or would it have been Magna's?? The mfg. date is was told is mid 1980, ser#N732239. Thanks,

I think the 27-2 came with S&W targets grips as the two I have that are unfired came that way. I believe all Model 28-2's came with mangas unless Targets were speical ordered.

Others can correct if I'm wrong but that's my view.

As I recall sometime in the mid 80's S&W standardized the model 27 to include the (3) "T"s. Target hammer, target trigger and target stocks. From 1980-1991 the target stocks included a silver medallion washer and an enhanced cut out on the left stock (speed loader cut-out).
