Ohio State football coach Tressel resigns...

Yea...and the only reason he beat his very first SEC team in a BCS bowl this past January is that he unsuspended the players for the SugarBowl and then re suspended them for their 5 game suspensions.

Can't believe the shenagians up there-hell down here in the SEC we got the car dealership scam down to a science :D Rookies............;)

If you expect to be known for your morals and ethics you had better be able to live by them.

Too bad, he was a good coach.

I lost all respect for Tressel when he pushed for a school tax levy in an area he doesn't even live in or pay taxes in!
Message to Tressel: MYOB!

Myron

I guess it is easier to talk about morals and ethics than it is to live them. I won't judge him though; not knowing what I would do in a similar situation. I expect it would be real easy to rationalize and justify those kind of decisions to yourself. He, and Ohio State paid a big price for his failings.

The biggest problem I had with the situtation was when he let Pryor and the other players play in their bowl game last year, waiting to suspend them until next season (for 5 games).

I don't dislike Ohio State, I am a Dawg. But it is hard for a winning program to stay on the up and up. I look for some of the other winning programs to have problems.I am like Caj., some of the stuff we have down to a science in the SEC.

My better half is a diehard Buckeye grad, and she's been hollerin' for his scalp since this first started. Winning isn't the only thing - winning honest is.

Tressel held himself out as being holier than thou, even to the extent of a prayer request box on his office desk.
All the while of course, being one of the dirtiest and lyingest coaches in the NCAA.

Tress' is falling on his sword for the sake of THE University. You can't tell me he informed the FBI, his family lawyer, T. Pryor and T. Pryor's "advisors" and didn't tell Gee or Smith. I call B.S.

Just one more reason to hate the hypocrisy that is NCAA football. A lot of these kids do not want to be in college and have no business being there. They want to play football and there is no other route to the NFL. If there were a minor league system like baseball and hockey, or if college weren't a requirement like basketball, this problem would not exist. But why would the NFL even want to do this? They have a free farm system now.
But then again, if these kids weren't on our T.V. every Saturday there wouldn't be a billion dollar college football industry either, now would there?

And for the record - OSU asked the NCAA if the players in question should be suspended for the Sugar Bowl. The NCAA said to let them play so as "not to disappoint the fans!" Read: "Blah-blah-blah, $$$$$$"

The real sad part of it is though, Pryor has been protected and there is next to no chance he ever plays in the NFL. Even as a non QB --- maybe am Eric Dikerson type running back, but the odds really against it.

The article I read today painted tressel as a rule breaker all the way back to his time at Youngstown State. He absolutely had mr fooled!
