Ive got a an old 39-2 semi auto handgun and i was wondering if there were any bits of after market "GOODIES" i could get for it. (barrel extensions, new slides, bigger clips, threaded barrels) ive also had some issues with accuracy with it any information would help! Thanks

Basically, the answer to your question is "no" although there may be a few of the accessories from back in the day still kicking around. These would include an extended barrel (which may need to be fitted), and fully adjustable rear sights (one made by S&W, the other by MMC). You're probably stuck with the magazine capacity, as (and I may be corrected on this) I don't recall an extended mag ever being available.

You don't specify the nature or severity of your "accuracy" problem, but there are plenty used 39-2 parts out there that when substituted for yours might improve the situation. A different barrel, bushing, or slide could help, but that's fairly expensive experimentation that may just as likely yield no tangible results. One thing to check is that your rear sight fits tightly and is not shifting around at all in between shots.

Time to sell it to a traditionalist who appreciates it for what it is. With the money, you can get a Glock or other current production pistol which have a lot of aftermarket accessories readily available.

A 3906 magazine should work in the gun, giving you one more round. It does extend slightly from the grip.

Ill check into the sight movement thanks. I love this gun im just in experienced with it at the moment. But my grouping was all over the place! And at about 15 feet i couldnt manage to hit a 10 inch target. Im not a great shot or anything but im not that bad lol

@ be mike. Im not interested in selling this piece. Exspecially for a glock! I was just curious if there were any upgrades for it but i knew it was a long shot!

Well there is one really great upgrade for a Model 39-2.......it's a Model 52-2. All steel frame, 5" barrel, awesome trigger, fully adjustable rear sight, removable external weight, etc. About the only downside is the 5 shot mag and it shoots wadcutters only.......but man can it shoot them!

Im fairly attatched to my. 39-2! Its a beautiful piece of history an super fun to shoot! I got mine at a pawn shop so k dont have any of the extras they came with new

I was on the Herrett's site yesterday. They still list their thumbrest target stocks for the 39: $150.

Please don't, er... put pig on the lipstick!

For Herrett grips try www.herrett-stock.com. As to loose rear sights: I tried a few of my 39s and on only two of them could I get even the slightest movement. That big, broad leaf spring really keeps those things anchored down. I don't know how your sight could have movement unless the spring is bent.

I love my 39-2 as I have owned it for 10 or so years. It sets in my nightstand next to the bed as it is the most accurate SA that I can shoot with. My hands aren't that big and it fits me great. Don't ever get rid of it.

39-2

I had a 39-2 and replaced the grips with pachmyr grips. The navy seals used this model during vietnam. It was called the hush puppy. It had a suppressor and a slide lock. Gun parts corp. would have parts for this handgun.
