Got a 38 special revolver with a 2 inch barrel. Frame is an alloy with the cylinder and barrel steel. "Italy" on the right side of the barrel.

It looks like an " E G " inside a circle under the thumb latch. A few proof marks on the frame on the left side under the front of the barrel.

Where was it made and is it worth anything?

The mark on the side under the thumb latch is EIG. They were an importer only, based in Miami Florida in the 60's. The GCA68 kind of put them out of business with the type of handguns they imported.
Mostly handguns from Italy, W Germany and Spain,,small ccw type stuff.

Yours has standard Italian proofs on the frame and it looks like perhaps the lower mark was X'd out(?). Can't read that one.
Could have been made at any number of small Italian mfg'r's for export. Maybe the lower X'd out mark is 'Brescia'. Many small arms and parts were mfg'd there.
No idea of the value.

Any gun is worth something. It reminds me of an old RG I used to own. WHile certainly not a name brand gun, it does have it's uses and some worth.

Have you fired it?

I know a lot of rednecks that would keep it as a truck gun.

Pre GCA '68 Saturday night special type revolver, albeit a nicer grade of such by the looks of it. 150 to 200 in a private sale maybe? Depends on whether it is working order, times correctly, spits lead or not, etc.

Is the frame steel or alloy?
