Here's a 3" I round butted. Not perfect, but it works.

Thanks for the heads up....

Are the RB more desireable than SB? For CC, I would think so, but for just range and H/D, I doubt it would make a difference.

Better order quick the 3" guns sold out in a few days last time. I was just shooting mine today, exactly as advertised. Used finish, get mechanics, mine has a very nice DA trigger.

Nice job on the RB conversion, with the Ahrends grips it looks darn good. If I didn't already have a 3" Model 10 I'd be all over the deal at Bud's because 3" K frames are such good shooters...

RB is the way to go. You can always buy grips to convert a RB to SB. Can't do to opposite without removing metal like I had to do.

Most 3" guns are RB. One usually ecounters SB in Model 10's not 64's and almost no 65, 66, etc.

Once you have handled both you will prefer one or the other. The one advantage to a RB is that you can buy more-or-less conversion to SB grips.

I prefer SB. Until this current crop of S&W's, target guns were SB's.

I got one last time, a 10-4 3", with 1/10th inch sight. It's a great shooter. If I didn't already have one, I'd get one of these. Last time they sold out by noon the day they went on sale.

i just ordered one myself.
3" rb is just weird enough for me to want.

this is the first time i have spent good money on a sight unseen gun. hope this works out to be a cool christmas present to myself. :)

My Bad

Saw the round butt, and read Bud's, so I rushed off to the web site. No round butt 3" to be had. Read again and saw "conversion". Now I get it. Very nice job looks great. Bought two of the 4"s last time around, a sq and a rd. I kept the sq, daughter got the round. Mine shoots very well. Still a 3" is tempting.

Ordered one about 3 hours ago, at which time they had 9 left out of an original 100.

My daughter was getting tired of my trying to talk her out of her 3" light barrel she got about 5 years ago. These appear to be HBs but that's OK.

It'll be interesting to see what shape it'll be in.

  • i was under the impression that the 3" rb guns from bud"s were not a conversion, but a factory deal.

  • The 3 inchers from buds are all sq. butts (that I'm aware).

I did my own conversion to round.

I too was a bit confused on that, as Bud's was also offering RB and SB 4-inchers. Just after I ordered mine that ad popped up on there and I had to go back and figure it out.

Woulda probably prefered a RB 3", but the SB is OK, too. Besides I already have a 3" K:

The Aussie will make a nice mate for it, too. Who knows, they may even begin to breed!

Still waiting for my Aussie to ship. Can't wait to get my hands on it. Plan is to leave it just as it was when it was in PD service, and then shoot the _(*^&&(*^ out of it!@

i already have a 3 incher too, but would've liked to have one of these Aussie's to go with mine.
