Can anyone suggest a good gunsmith for working on my Remington Model 81 Woodsmaster. I'm looking for a guy who can do a restoration.

We restored my Dad's Model 8 in .35 and found that if the rifle has anything mechanical that needs work, new parts are very, very difficult to find for this model.

The mechanics are in good shape, but the receiver been tapped for a scope. I want the holes filled in and the wood and bluing refinished.

That sounds like it shouldn't be too tough. Sure wish I could send you to the guy that did the work on Dad's rifle as it turned out beautifully, but he has retired and left the business.

I'll start looking around on the net, I'll find someone, should not be to hard. Been wanting one of these since I read Frank Hammers book. Like you dad's, this one is in .35 Remington.
