They might. How about an ankle holster? i presume you cant wear it at waistband?

I put a set of Uncle Mike's® boot grips on my model 37; no stick and draws fine.

Here's what I use on my 638 that works well for both pocket or ankle carry.
I don't know what type of grips they are, or where & when I got them but know that if I need
a similar set, for the same purpose, that Altamont has an inexpensive grip that looks a lot like it.
Below you will see the 638 with the grips I tried before those shown above & below on a 642.
These grips (below left) are some offered on the S&W Site through their store, while nice grips
the light checkering was still too grippy on cloth for my liking.
The smooth BK Adapters really allow for a good grip on these small framed guns
while not defeating my goal of having something small & smooth for pocket & ankle carry.
Just so you know where I'm coming from a little better, here's the type of Pocket Holster I use.
Round or square cut all depends on the pocket shape I'm dealing with at the time.

I find that the rubber style grips are really not conducive to pocket carry because of their size, bulk, weight and stickiness. Since I do pocket carry about 60% of the time I have changed my grips back to the original Factory Magnagrips with a Tyler T Grip in place. Works very well, and they are also more comfortable in the pocket as an added bonus.

I have the same set up that ogilvyspecial has. For me there is none better.
Service grips & pocket carry
Ocasionally, I carry a 3 inch 657 CCW. I also, have the printing through close problem. I got a smaller set of grips.
Wouldn't you know, I could not hit the broad side of a barn door with them on the gun.
I finally said "heck I'll go with my Pachamyer grips" and let them print through...

J frame grips
Take a look at Eagle Grips.
The Secret Service model comes smooth or checkered.
Doesn't cover back strap but fills in front like Tyler T.
No thicker than stock for pocket carry.
Eagle's customer service is superb.

I just got another set similar to those shown in my previous post through Altamont.
I did notice that the Altamonts seem slightly thicker and have a magna, service grip
type of profile, i.e. flatter on the sides. The ones in my previous photo have a rounded profile,
which I tend to prefer just a little bit more, but the Altamonts will serve my needs extremely well.
After posting the above I went and took a couple of "quick & dirty" pic's.
The Altamont's are shown on the left.
If anybody knows who may have made the type on the right (rounded profile) I sure would appreciate knowing.

My 638 & 642 both have the Uncle Mikes Boot Grips. No bigger than the service grips with a grip adapter and they offer a better grip. I carry in the pocket all the time.

Thanks for trying Photoman. In the photo the set on the right actually looks
like they are thicker than the Altamont's, but that's just a "tropical delusion."
When I received the Altamont's they included 3 screws, all too long, so I thought I would
give them a call and take care of the screw issue and ask if they made 2 different styles of
their smooth J Rd grip panels. I couldn't get through by phone so just dealt with the
screw issue by email and they fixed me up right away.
I was going to ask them about the different styles because it's my understanding
that they are the supplier of S&W wood grips, at least one of their suppliers.
I have the current S&W Dynawood Grips as well as their Walnut Service Grips,
which I will post a picture of here shortly. The grips on the left (above) feel like a smooth
version of the S&W Dynawood Grips & those on the right like the S&W Walnut Service Grips.
Based on that I was wondering if they made up some smooth versions
of the two whenever they were running their machines to fill S&W's needs.
That was just a guess, but I didn't think it would have hurt to ask once I had them on the phone.
Those on the right in my last photo have a similar profile to these,
the current S&W Walnut Service Grips.

I have a box full of junk rubber grips, mainly Hogues and Pachs.
My two pocket heaters wear basically the same setup.
