I recently traded for a Model 686-1 revolver. My initial inspection of the gun was quite positive until I got it home and was able to give it a closer inspection. When the trigger is pulled it will, on occasion, fail to rotate the cylinder. This only happens maybe once in every 50 trigger pulls. The next thing that I noticed was that the hand was not flush with the face of the frame, it protrudes thru the frame about the thickness of several business cards. I'm sure this is what is causing the cylinder to bind. Has anyone attempted to dress and shorten a cylinder hand? The S&W Factory says I should return it to the factory for proper fitting. The Jerry Kuhnhausen book says the hand must be dressed to be flush with the face of the frame, but removing to much material will make the hand useless. Any personal experiences would be appreciated. Thanks, Bidemhi
