I think I've tried just about every method imaginable for concealed carry. Shoulder holster. Strong-side belt holster. Cross-draw holster. Inside the pants holster. Thunderwear. Ankle holster. Now I've settled on one method that does not even require a holster; the gun is secured well, easily accessible, and completely invisible to others when done correctly. I find myself using a hammerless or shrouded hammer J-frame equipped with a set of Barami Hip-grips. First, here's a shot of a couple of revolvers equipped with this device:



And here is a Model 442 equipped with Hip-grips, placed in a right front Levi's pocket, with the covering shirt drawn up for visibility:



This method is simple. The gun is easily drawn. There is virtually no risk of "printing" so that it's spotted by someone else. Only downside I can see is maybe losing the gun while doing handstands, which I rarely do any more.

Anyone else use this method?

I'm intrigued by the hip grip but don't have a set yet.

Do folks carry IWB with hip grips?

If so does sitting ever push the gun above the grip lip?

I used to carry IWB at 4 o'clock, but found that normal movement tended to push the gun up - at one point, I was embarrassed by the gun coming lose. 10 or 11 o'clock works better, but when you're used to going to your right side to obtain your gun, that's counterproductive.

With the pocket carry illustrated, no problems. The short barrel allows you to sit normally, and when sitting the grip area pushes against your lower abdomen slightly, trapping the gun so it cannot detach. I find it the best way and easiest way to carry with the Hip-grip.

I have used a hip grip with a T grip for thirty five years. The first ones Barami made were right hand only. You had to use the left factory stock. I carried a model 38 bodyguard w/grip as a BUG in an ankle holster, belly band, pocket holster and iwb. I prefered to use the appendix position when I carried inside the waist band. I gave my wife my m38 and I now carry a m638 with a Barami and Tyler.

Sir, FWIW, my Model 49 has the same setup--Hip-Grip and Tyler T-Grip. So equipped, the little J-frame carries nicely in my right-front pocket as your pic illustrates. I'm not sure how well it would work with bigger/heavier guns, though.

Here's my model 64 snubbie with same old school combo. Works great IWB.

Years ago I would tape a popsicle stick or a thin piece of metal to the right grip with the end sticking up like a Barami Hip-Grip. When I found out about the Hip-Grip I started using them. That is the best way in the world to carry concealed. Wearing a white, plain tee shirt with the Hip-Grip I can carry a 2 1/2 in. M19 anywhere that doesn't have a metal detector. It is really easy to conceal a M36. Larry

I can't bring myself to buy one as I feel obligated in this economy to help out the holster makers.

This is my preferred carry as well. Not just for the ease of carry, but I'm more accurate with the Hip Grips / Tyler because of the way they extend my trigger finger out for a perfect fit.

I've carried j-frames and j-mag frames with the HipGrip for maybe 40 yrs...at least 30. Always behind my hipbone, IWB over my belt or over the pants waist-band for ultra-concealment. Used over the waist-band, and "under" the belt, you can pull out and flare your tucked-in shirt a bit and the gun disappears. Great for church or work. Have NEVER had one come loose. They are dirt-cheap, $25, for what you get. I have maybe 5 sets around here. Now they even make 'em in colors and for some of the weirdo makes of small guns.

I've been carrying with Barami grips on and off for the last 4 years.

Thanks for the pictues. I like them so much I've ordered me a set of those grips for my Taurus 605SS2 and my wifes S & W 637-2.

The grips were designed for IWB carry. If done properly, the belt should be snug enough to ride between the clip and the cylinder. It helps to use not too wide a belt
