Has anyone else had problems getting their handgun out of a Fobus holster. I have one for a Walther PPK that I use and like quite well. I recently bought a new Glock 27 and later picked up a Fobus holster for it as well. The only problem is it takes a heck of an effort to get the Glock out of the holster, it will just about pull my pants up to my armpits trying to get the sucker out.

Mine is a paddle holster just like this one.

I had one for a long time without the red paddle for a M36 and liked it. My wife wanted one but it had the red paddle and she couldn't get the gun out. I gave her mine and I use the one with the red paddle. It takes a hard yank to get the gun out but I can live with it. The older ones were the best. Larry

The older design Fobus without the red backing on the paddle seems to work better.
I have used Fobus Paddles for years. I put a drop of gun oil on my finger tip and lightly lub the inside of the holster body occasionly.

The correct way to draw from a FOBUS or other holster that snaps in is to get a firm firing grip on the gun and SNAP it out of the holster.
Just holding the gun and steadily pulling feels like you're going to pull your pants off!

All mine have been fine - with one exception; Fobus for a Taurus 85 revolver is terrible. WAY too difficult to snatch out - especially their ankle holster for it.
Fobus's I've had for my M&P, Ruger, CS45, 642, Taurus PT145 - all have been fine.

Try some ArmorAll on the inside of the holster, and draw 'snappy'. For that matter, try some ArmorAll on your mags and the inside of the grip frame, the mags will shoot right out.

Yeah I used to own a Fobus a long time ago but they never fit the model listed (Was for a Sig). Do yourself a favor and buy a decent holster. Fobus is usually the first holster people see because they are cheap and readily available in most gun shops. The money people save buying a Fobus does them no good when a bad guy is stabbing you and filling your torso full of knife puncture holes as you are attempting to draw your firearm from the Fobus holster.

I picked up the same Fobus paddle holster for my Glock about a week ago. I usually carry IWB - tucked, but with the winter months allowing for bulkier pull-overs, I decided to give the Fobus a try.

The first thing I did was to practice my draw until I was comfortable with the set up. It snaps in tight and requires a quick, snappy draw. A slow, strong pull doesn't cut it. You will end up with your pants in the arm pit until the quick, snappy draw is done properly.

It took a bit of practice, but I am comfortable using the Fobus now that I am used to it.

Well, I just couldn't get the Fobus to work to my satisfaction for the Glock 27. Took it back and paid about twice as much for a BlackHawk and love it.

At first with my KH1, I had the same problem until!!! I learned I had to grab that sucker and "snatch" it out...works great

I've never had a problem with getting my gun out of the holster.

These are not quality holsters. Among other issues, they can be ripped right off the paddle, etc. I strongly recommend against them. Their advertisement in law enforcement magazines show a trio of tattooed thugs with badges and **** equipment. Bad product, bad image/PR.

Given reasonable price of other manufacturers' Kydex/synthetic holsters, just no reason to add any FOBUS product to one's carry regimen, civilian or LEO.

Try running a silicone cloth through the holster a few times, focusing on the area that secures/grips the weapon. This works for me.

Agreed! Friend of mine who works in a gun shop somehow caught the grip of his Fobus holstered 1911 on the edge of a door frame and ripped the holster off the paddle. Buy a belt holster and save yourself some grief. A good pancake style will last a long time. Run a search, there are a BUNCH of great ones you'll run across on the Forum.

If you are going to do Kydex, go Blade Tech, Comp Tac or blackhawk.

I only used Fobus as a range holster. They're pretty easy to get a gun out of if you have a firm grip and sharp pull. Because they only held the gun by friction and the paddle was only riveted to the holster body, I NEVER carried one on duty. There are plenty of good concealment holsters that are lot more secure and not much more expensive than a Fobus.

Went to a weapon retention instructor class: learned that there's NO paddle holster that's safe. Also learned you can break any holster.

Also want to caution against any holster using a mechanical gadget to retain the weapon. May never happen, but getting the weapon out in cause of failure is interesting-if it's not your gun getting ground/hacksawed out of the holster. Watched a Speed Safety need a welding grinder applied to the hinge back in the day, have seen a more modern holster after the hacksaw released the gun.

Agree on the belt holster. I've used a couple of Fobus holsters as carry on the farm (wanted something I could clean with a hose). Work well, never had any issues, more than I can say for the Uncle Mikes.

Had the same problem with a Glock 26. Went with a Serpa Blackhawk and never looked back.

I've used them, but I'm not a big fan for this very reason. I like the Safariland paddles much better. They are lined, and the retention is adjustable. They're only about $10 more than a Fobus.

Ditto nix the Fobus for concealed carry. Blackhawk Serpa products are topnotch. Check them out. Worth every penny.

I to have tried the Fobus. It actually seems to work a little better with my G19 than my G17. Go figure. I only use it for range time. That said, I do like the Fobus mag carriers.

But, I have one in kydex and two leather Safarilands and they seem OK, especially the leathers. I feel like for civilian use they would be OK; badge toters that have to jump on some cod now and then would be better off with something more durable. I carried a Glock 27 in a Fobus ankle holster when I was working and I liked it OK.

I tried out a Fobus paddle for my Chief's Special at a gun store today and it just didn't feel right. You get what you pay for and I have to constantly remind myself of that.

This model of holster does not have a tension screw. Wish it had been that simple.

I have to agree that Fobus just doesn't do the job for me. I had one (L/H) for a n M-3914 while working plain clothes and it just wasn't comfy. Ended up with an AKER paddle that I still have, years after retirement. But now all my CC holsters are made by me, for me. Like this little OWB for an M-36 with my maker's mark. Mike

I just returned mine for my glock 27.

Even after I went online and read the "how to" section, 4 out of 5 times it stayed put or the entire paddle came with the gun. I wasn't being gently either.. I snatched it as quick as I could but no dice.

I didn't bother trying another one, I just returned it for the cash... I'm using my homemade IWB holster again for the time being.

They do make a nice field holster if woods stomping and rain may be in the forcast. Just shove a stainless gun in and go. Both are more rain resistant than leather and blued steel.

I experienced the hard draw on my Fobus model 357 with a 438 bodyguard. I spread the two pieces of the holster apart at the trigger guard area. Used a small amount of silicone adhesive to cement a small piece of a wooden matchstick between the halves. The piece of wood fell out over time but the revolver still releases easily but still holds it securely. Guess the plastic holster material developed a "memory" for the expanded position.

I've tried to like kydex, but I just can't. Don't even like them for a range holster. I've got an Uncle Mike's paddle for a j frame and a Fobus paddle for a 1911 in the classifieds right now for sale. They're just uncomfortable to me.

After reading all the posts and checking the links, I decided to try a different kydex paddle holster. I didn't have any major issue with the Fobus, but the you tube link got me thinking about durability and more draw practice had me noticing that the required "snatch" draw threw off my presentation fundamentals a bit.

I liked the price of the Fobus compared to others. I ordered a iTAC (standard - no finger release) that was contructed as a one-piece to eleminate the breakage/failure show on the you tube link.

The iTAC was the same price (+/-) as the Fobus but was better formed being one-peice and had an adjustment screw. I can set the tightness of the clamp on the trigger guard to keep the weapon secure, but not so tight that drawing the sidearm pulls my pants up to my arm pits or throws of my presentation/draw fundementals by requiring excessive "snatch force" ( or whatever you want to call it... you get the idea...).

I just picked up a Fobus for my Model 19. I will report my experience.

I live in a small town and will use it for non urban carry.

If fits nice, I am not sure about the articulation yet, I did not buy the roto...

The version I have is the red backed paddle.

I became pretty impressed with the Fobus Paddle and got one for my Model 60, but it was marked Taurus. Worked OK, though. I decided to get the right one marked .357 and this gun is almost impossible to get out of this holster. The Taurus holster works much better.

Been using one and 2 mag holders from Fobus for 3 years for my Beretta Vertec when shooting IPSC. The holster snobs look down on it but it's a fine holster for the money. The folks who make weapons in Israel know their stuff and if it's good enough for their soldiers it's good enough for me.

Grab weapons grip and pull firmly. As quick if not faster than a Serpa!
