Default Concealed Carry Recommendations for M&P9c

I just picked up my first semi-auto pistol in a few years...a M&P9c. I really like the pistol, and can't wait to take it out for its first range trip!

For those of you who have and conceal-carry this model, could you please give me some recommendations/ideas on your carry preferences.

I mostly dress casual...jeans & sweatshirts in cooler weather, and shorts/t-shirts in S. Alabama summers.

Thanks.

---Andy

Long sweatshirts and untucked t-shirts easily conceal an IWB setup. There are also some good quality tuckable holsters out there. My M&P40c hides pretty well in a Kholster any way I dress; it's very comfortable also. They're inexpensive enough too, $49 shipped now I think.

The M&Pc line is just about the perfect size, just like the earlier S&W compact line. They have great capacity and are small enough to conceal easily (you probably already know that since you bought it). There are enough holsters and accesories out there now that you can afford to be picky and go with what looks and feels best to you.

Here's a pic, ugly little bugger but it does its job very well

Check out K&D Holsters | Custom Gun Leather and Shooting Accessories who can make a beautiful IWB holster for you. Don't forget also that Alabama is an Open Carry state so look at K&D's OWB holsters also - that's how I carry my 9c. I had them make one for me trimmed in elephant trunk.

Thanks, MSgt G, for the recommendation.

sonofthebeach:

I have one of our Thunderbird Defenders (IWB/OWB) holsters on hand/ready to ship. It's new, has the anti-sweat/body shield, and is a right hand version. The price is $90 + shipping. We can put either 1.25", 1.5", or 1.75" clips on it.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

That Thunderbird Defender is sweeeet! You can use it IWB or OWB. Mine is the Larado Defender (which I can't leave unguarded since my son loves it!).

Check it out here: K&D Holsters | Custom Gun Leather and Shooting Accessories
If interested, you may want to contact K&D before someone else does.

If you're looking for an IWB, in my opinion, the Milt Sparks Summer Special II can't be beat: Milt Sparks Holsters

Only drawback is the 6-month wait.

OWB- Raven Phantom with the pancake loops.

IWB- will depend on where you like to carry. Supertuck is nice, but I like to carry a little foreward of my left hip, almost appendix. I had to modify my supertuck to make this work.

Another vote for K&D. I have an IWB from them and it's a comfortable well made holster. I also sometimes carry in a regular belt holster depending on how I dress.

Also in summer weather when I wear baggy shorts (not that baggy!) I carry it my right front pocket. Can't tell it's there but it's a little heavy.

Now that's a good looking rig, and exactly what I have been looking for. I sent an email regarding my 4516, hopefully they can help me out. I'll have to keep it in mind for future purchases.

My newly aquired M&P40c resides in a Galco Ankle Lite, this is the same ankle rig that S&W shows on their site. Galco doesn't currently make an ankle glove for the M&Pc but the Ankle Lite has the same elastic band, the holster just isn't leather.

For me this gun carries better than the M60 that it replaced in an ankle holster. These guns carry in many different ways, enjoy your new shooter.

Cheers,
Sam

I'm a fan of the Comp-Tac MTAC. I originally got it for my M&P40, and it carried great. My new M&P40c fits in it perfectly (there's just a little holster left over at the end of the slide. It's the most comfortable IWB I've found...great retention, and it's got just enough adjustment built in.

The Kholster is also a great option. I've had them for a couple of different guns. The first one I had didn't have the big round backer. My next one did, and I cut it down to allow me to get a full grip on the gun and it worked great. Another advantage to the Kholster is that with a heat gun you can make it fit just about anything. I think I had 5 different guns in my first one. The only think I don't like about it is the metal clips...they were rough on my shirts. I believe he still has Kydex clips available.

I'd go with what Sip said. Lobo is a member here and it looks like he makes a quality product. Do a search so you can see some of his work, very impressive.
