Default Position Preference

I just bought a Sigma SW9VE. I'd be interested in hearing your opinions on which carry position is your preference...3 o'clock, 6 o'clock, IWB, outside, etc. If you have this same gun, I'd like to know which position you find most comfortable for concealment. Thanks in advance!

I carry my SW40GVE IWB in a Kholster at the 4:30 position. Conceals easily with nothing more than a big t-shirt if necessary.

Iwb carry I use 4:00. Behind the hip. Outside the waist band is "roughly" 3:00. (Call it a quarter after 3).

My employer issues my duty gun, a Sigma 40VE, close to yours. I carry that outside the waistband, at 3:00, with a Fobus belt-slide holster. I also carry a backup when on duty, a J-frame in pocket holster.

When not on duty, I carry a S&W 457, same place, OWB @ 3:00. Sometimes I get in the mood for a 1911, or .357 wheel-gun, same place, OWB @ 3:00. I always carry at the same position, so I don't have to waste a microsecond remembering where it is when I need it.

That's what works for me, but may not work for you. Try several types and decide which you prefer.

"Another misdirection title!"

Really, and so long on the uptake...

Now, on to a lengthy and ribald discourse on my position preferences...

My all-time favorite, and usually preferred position, is, for the following reasons, owing to certain anatomical anomalies, is... oh, drat, Barb C. is due back anytime now, and won't approve of further elaboration...

IWB at 4:00 - 4:30 (so the grip lays over the kidney). OWB @ 3:30, duty belt 3:00.

I've been carrying my cell phone clipped to my right pocket for years before I decided to get my cwp so I carry my Sigma IWB about 9:30 in the crossdraw position. If I can't get my right hand free in a struggle I can easily rotate my left wrist and draw just as quickly with that hand. Besides I'd look pretty silly if my phone rang and I slapped my gun against my head and shouted "HELLO"
