I have been thinking about trying my hand at making my own Kydex and leather holster, in the style of the Crossbreed, Kholster, and Comp-Tac Minotaur. I want to combine the features that I like most about these holsters into one. I like the customization that kholster allows without voiding the warranty. I like that style of metal clips that Crossbreed uses. And I like that the Comp-Tac is interchangeable to fit more than one firearm. I have found so good information on forming Kydex and were to get the materials. I know that Crossbreed sells their clips separately. As for mounting the leather to the kydex i think i am going to try and use hardware like kholster does so that i can easily change out the plastic portion for use with different firearms. I may have to add holes that would not always be used but I would really like to do forming of both sides of each of my guns so that I can carry righty, lefty, or in the small of my back. Multiple holes for adjusting the height and cant will also be part of my design.

I don't know when or if I will ever get around to doing this, but I just wanted to put it out there and see what you guys thought of my ideas.

knifekits.com has Kydex sheet stock in small quantities at reasonable prices, as well as a variety of hardware --- fasteners, belt clips, etc. Have fun!
