The question of CCW weapons has been asked.
One member has asked me about the new S&W .38cal Bodyguard revolver with the built in laser sight.
Has anyone had experence with this model?

I have held one at a gun shop and I like the top latch for the cylinder and hate the laser activation on the top of the gun. I will take my 442 with CT any day over it.

I've had my new Bodyguard 38 for a month now and it has become my favorite J frame size revolver. It has a great trigger and feels good in the hand even with hot +P loads. The laser is great and easily activated, all in all it is a very good revolver.

I fondled one at the NRA convention in Charlotte, and ever since it's been on my want list. It may be a while but I plan to have one.

I bought one Saturday. It hasn't been to the range yet but I like everything about it, laser, light weight, dark matte finish, smooth trigger. I don't like the stocks but a set of Spegels will fix that. It's a heck of a buy compared to a plain 642 or a 642 with Crimson Trace.

Will standard J frame grips fit the new gun?

Ouch! Good catch Photoman and the answer is no because I just tried. The new gun stocks are held in place by a roll pin near the bottom and not the standard centered screw. Shape's a little different also. Bummer.

I did call S&W and CS said they will be bringing out options to the standard stocks but he didn't know when.

If you carry front pocket, could you open the cyl by pulling

it out of your pocket. I like them. Not much on lazer, or the grip.

I like the J frame wood with Tiler grip adapter. Maybe SW will come out

with a wood grip sometime.

8'th, I've carried mine in my cargo pants front pocket and never had this happen. So I think it would depend on the cut and size of your pocket, but doubt the cylinder latch would catch.

I have carried one for about 3 yrs with no adverse affect. It fits nicely in the pocket and have had no issue with the cylinder opening. I had a set of square butt grips on it for a while and they seem a little large for a good conceal.

I just purchased the .38 Bodyguard. Very nice gun..Haven't had time to shoot it yet!
