Default Kydex IWB question

I have never owned nor tried a Kydex IWB. On another forum a poster mentioned wearing an undershirt to eliminate the Kydex "rub" on his skin which, from the way the post was worded, meant the Kydex rubbing on bare skin irritated the skin.

I never wear an undershirt and don't plan to start doing so.

But, I was contemplating buying a Kydex IWB.

Any of you had a problem with the Kydex rubbing you the wrong way?

Bob

There are a couple of holster makers who put out a "hybrid" kydex/leather holster that eliminates the problem you foresee. Look into Crossbreed holsters as well as Kholster. I have a Kholster on now would highly recommend their product. I have not tried a Crossbreed product yet. Many folks swear by them though.

Ditto on the Kholster. I wear one every day, all day, and they are comfortable all day long. That big piece of leather insures that NOTHING rubs against your skin and causes discomfort.

Unfortunately, neither of these makers have a model for the gun I want to carry IWB-the Colt Detective Special.

I have found only a couple of makers.

Call Jimmy at Kholster. If he doesn't have a mold for your gun, he'll get one. 877-546-5783

cshoff, thanks for the tip on Jimmy at Kholster. I have a CrossBreed, but have a son who needs a special fit also. I'll pass this info on to him.

You are welcome. Jimmy is very easy to work with and VERY prompt. I will caution you, though, that I heard through the grapevine he will be out of the office for a few days on a fishing trip, so it may take a few days for him to get back to you.

For anyone - if you do decide to order a Kholster, you will get 10% off of your purchase if you use this code: 335093.

For the record, I am not affiliated with Kholster in any way. Just a happy customer. If/when you buy a Kholster, you too will be given a code that you can give to friends and acquaintances so they can receive a discount on their purchase.

As a maker of custom kydex holster who has worn them for years, it depends a lot on the design. I've noticed mine don't bother me, even when wearing IWB for long periods of time. If it really bothers someone, an undershirt or gluing some moleskin on the backside can go a long way.

A lot of people in the know are running kydex pancake holsters because they believe they are the best design out there. I am one of those people who agree. In fact, it is the only design I will make for customers anymore. It's comfortable, concealable, and extremely fast on the draw. I've owned a whole lot of top shelf holsters and nothing compares to the design. The fact a few phillips head screws are the only thing stopping it from being converted from OWB to IWB is a huge perk also.
