Default Florida CC permit renewal

My Florida permit expires this coming May. Do the people in Fl. contact me? Or do I have to be proactive, and contact them? Thanks, Dueeast

Calling won't hurt anything, but I believe you'll get a notice with all relevant instructions in plenty of time to renew without interruption of your right to carry.

I recently renewed mine. Florida sent me a renewal packet including a new finger print card. Sent it in and the new one came back shortly. I think it tells on their website about how soon before your permit expires that they notify you. The only other thing I can think of would be if you moved and they don't have your new address.

Why would they want updated fingerprints? I can see an updated photo, but fingerprints don't change.

I think it's just part of the package. All I had to submit with mine was the application, a new picture, and a pile of money

They only request fingerprints from those who live out of state. I figure that they worry that someone dies and someone else is using the permit. They could also be doing it for crime checks. I was in Florida last winter and asked them if I could do the prints locally and renew. I was told no and I had to wait until I got the renewal application. I got it a few days after I got home.

I'm going to have to establish FL residency (for several reasons) immediately after I retire.

I live in Arkansas and the first 2 times I renewed I used a revolver and was limited to carrying a revolver, next time I used a model 52 for qualifing the fellow renewing me said they would be confused with a 38 special and showed it as a 9mm, now I can carry any legal hand gun, we have no picture on our ccw permit and I guess they dont think our prints have changed. They explained to me that they don't keep them, so they need new ones each time from out of state folks. In-state, they keep them electronically so that they only request them once.

Mine expired this month, I got the renewal package the 1st of Sept. I immediately filled it out mailed it and had my new permit in 2 weeks.

The last time it was due they didn't send anything, a gun dealer pointed out to me it had been expired 3 months.

This is a few years late but FYI Colorado informs you by mail ONLY for your 1st renewal. After that it's YOUR responsibility. Here the customer service time is lengthy but no additional prints and you walk out card in hand. Thor

As noted by others, they notified me via the mail with instructions which was basically pay ($65) I think it was and I would be good to go for another 7 years. My first CCW was only good for 5 years but they have since changed it to 7. In my case, renewal was extremely easy with nothing required other then the renewal fee itself.

I don't know since you are from out of state. I live in Florida and they send you a notice and you can renew on line. I work in LE and have Federal & Customs clearances I don't know if that effects me but the renewal was a breeze the last couple of times. If you don't hear from them timely write to them certified for renewal options.

I spend some Winter time in Florida and asked if I could renew while there, I was told no as I did not have the paperwork. Needless to say, the day I got home, the paperwork was there. I had to submit my fingerprints twice and got a notice saying they could not ask a third time. I got my permit in the mail with a notice saying they might revoke it if my prints did not clear.
