She wants a Glock 19 because of her experience in the training class she took. What she belt carries and carries in her office at work is a CZ82. What she has at home is a 1911A1.

There is a woman in our area named Linda Walker that teaches a CCW class geared for women. As part of the class they send some range time with a dozen or so types and calibers of firearms. My wife and handful of her friends decided to take the class together. I know that Penny and at least one of her friends had J frames with them at the class and I was expecting her do start carrying one of my J's.

However for some reason most came back from the class liking the Glock 19's. She chose the CZ 82 because the controls are very similar to the 1911A1 she has shot for decades, but it is DA so has the point and shoot capability of a Glock.

My best girl, for nearly 40 years, packs a few different roscoes, but the lady is partial to a scattergun round the rancho. One of her favorites though, is a pre model 31 in an IWB holster.

My wife has fully taken possession of my Ruger SP101. I think the added weight is actually a benefit for her as it makes it a little easier to shoot than a J-frame.

We are currently trying to find the best belt carry option for her and are leaning towards appendix carry. I have some issues with where that points the muzzle while sitting though.

Well, my wife passed away in November and would never touch a gun. On the other hand, the daughter (who, believe it or not is 23 in that picture) took a shine to the S&W 40 pictured below.

2nd generation glock 17. She won't give it up, and is very accurate with it, keeps it clean etc. I've tried several times to introduce her to a smaller sized, but still easy to shoot gun but she inevitably always goes back the the 17. Two things I've learned over the years, don't choose a gun for your spouse, and don't choose a vehicle for your spouse. It doesn't matter what you Think she will like, it only matters what She likes.

It all started many years ago shortly after we met when I suggested she and my sister attend a local defensive pistol class so she could hear the instruction from more than just me. (another key learning in life btw)

Wife and sister got exposed to a number of handguns during this class and after subsequent trips to the rental range my wife settled on the G17 and my sister bought a S&W Model 66 3" revolver.

My wife was stubborn that she use nothing but her 3" Model 60 for years. Now all of a sudden she has taken a shine to the GLOCK 19.

My wife likes the M&P9c for her bedside. She doesn't carry yet...she will be getting her CHL this spring, we hope, and will be looking into the new Kimber Solo or Ruger LC9 for her purse.

Of course, I probably need to buy BOTH so we can give them a good test, and since they will be used, I'd be better off keeping whichever one she doesn't like.

642 LadySmith wearing Hogue Bantam grips. She carries it in a Tex Shoemaker IWB holster, it's very thin and light. She carries Corbon DPX in it.

My wife works for the state government. She is not allowed to have a weapon on her person or in her car on state property. For HD, we looked at it in terms of what she could best handle. We ended up with a G-22. It stays on the nightstand stuffed full of Rem. 180gr. JHP. She is quite capable with it. She also does with with my revolvers (.45ACP, .38 Special/.357 S&W Magnum), but the goto is the G-22.

For the last several years, a Ruger Sp101 in .357. I finally talked her into an advanced concealed carry class and she thought about taking an auto. I let her shoot my M&P40c, which is my carry gun. I now have to buy another one or give up mine. As far as carrying goes, that doesn't happen as much as I'd like. It's always in the car in a 007 kinda mount I put together. The occasional on person carry is in the purse, fanny pack or one the belt in a Don Hume JIT.

XD40SC in crossdraw for carry, XD45 for nightstand. I just can't turn her on to S&W revolvers no matter how hard I try, but she loves the SW1911 (108282) and managed to talk me out of my first one.

My wife likes a Baretta 92FS best of everything I've tried her on for the house gun. Could never figure it out because she is pretty small with small hands. The Baretta even has aftermarket wrap around rubber grips on it which make it thicker. We've tried various revolvers and smaller semi autos but she always comes back to the 92. My side of the bed keeps the Springfield 1911 ......

A copy of the book below makes a nice gift. I gave a copy to SWMBO a couple days ago (for no particular reason) and after reading the first few pages, she asked my to order three copies so she can send them to her sister, a close friend and our daughter.
Amazon.com: The Cornered Cat: A Woman's Guide to Concealed Carry (9780982248799): Kathy Jackson: Books

I guess I'll have to add it to my reading list.

My wife carries a 438 Bodyguard in her purse (a specially designed carry purse) loaded with HP semi-wadcutters (old FBI load).

Bedside gun is a 38 Masterpiece. Trail gun is a Blackhawk 41 mag.

My honey keeps a 12 guage double barrel by the bed, and her Taurus 85 she picked out just before we were married in a drawer at her bedside as well. When she packs, mostly while hiking, the Taurus is in a fanny pack.

UPDATE: She doesn't use the Taurus any more......she stole my Model 60!

My bride carries a Kimber Ultra Carry II, 3 inch .45 in her purse. Keeps a .357 S&W bedside when I'm on shift.

My Sweetie used to carry an M-9 as a duty gun, and my Glock 19 off-duty. Now she's got a Kimber Ultra CDP (45ACP). We both started off with 1911s in the military, so the fact that we fall back on that design (I also have an Ultra Carry) is no surprise.

My wife loves her Ruger LCP in .380 but the last several times we went to the range with friends, she tried their .38spcl revolvers and liked them, so a revolver may be in her future.

My wife finally took her concealed carry course today and qualified, single action, with the 317 Ladysmith I bought for her on the forum a while ago. Will take up to 45 days here in VA for her Concealed Handgun Permit to arrive after she files her paperwork. With CCI stingers, its better than nothing, but hope to get her using a .38sp eventually.

My wife's a great shot....but not a big fan of guns.
She knows where her 3" nickel model 36 is in the house though....

Default I carry

Depends on the occassion. I carry in my purse most of the time. I love my model 64 snubbie & I am the most accurate. However sometimes its just too heavy. It's also difficult to find a holster comfortable for carry. I shot a J-frame & couldn't hit paper @ 7 yards (.38 115grain FMJ) & I had a blister after 4 rounds. I have been alternating between the 3953 & M&P 9c. The shorter 9c makes for easier waistband carry. The semi- are easier to unload & reload, if I'm going somewhere that requires that. For the boat or jetski, I often am by myself & opt for the M&P, mostly for weight. If I'm in the woods, often I put snake shot in a couple of cylinders in my revolver. I'm generally not worried about CCW in the woods. My son has spoken for the 3953, so I guess I'd better get to the range and rent a BG 380! I'll need something else to fill the gap. Mother's Day is in May. . .

A Karhr CW9 for my wife. She carried a Sigma for a while, actually, but it was just a bit too bulky for her liking. The CW9, she carries everywhere.

Luscious carries her M&P 9C in a Coronado Leather purse. She's been trying to talk me out of my Colt 1911 for her office and is pretty convinced she needs a Sig .380 for a pocket gun.
She says if I give her the .45, I can buy a shotgun. I'm gonna miss that pistol ...

Default Self defense mindset

My wife of 48 years has held a CWL for 12 years now. The defensive weapon she now carries daily is an S&W 380 Bodyguard in either a cross body purse, fanny pack, or in a pocket holster. The chamber and both magazines are loaded with Remington Golden Saber 102gr JHP. The S&W replaced a KelTec P3AT of many years. She is also well versed in handling the various house defense weapons; pistols, tactical rifle and shotgun. Not at all paranoid, she keeps a self defense mindset and awareness of her surroundings... which is probably the best weapon she carries.

My wife carries either her Kel-tec P32 or Bersa Thunder 380 in one of my Minimal Clips.

Night side gun is a Model 15-4 4".
