I have been very pleased with a Tom Threepersons holster I ordered from El Paso Saddlery. The fit and finish is excellent as is the quality of materials and workmanship. When I can afford it, I will be ordering another one for my 4" S&W 686 and my 4" M-21 (Thunder Ranch).

The Threepersons is a great holster but it is difficult to conceal and it is banned by every gun game known to man due to the exposed trigger design. I have one and I never use it.

But I am very fond of the El Paso Street Combat. It's a pancake type holster than can be concealed very easily and I use this holster to conceal most of my large frame revolvers.

Back when the IDPA allowed the 5" 625 to compete, one of the fastest draws I ever saw was this revolver drawn from a Kramer Belt Scabbard made of horsehide. That is one tough, tight holster and I'll never understand how the shooter could get the gun out so fast, but he did.

The Galco Phoenix works great for me. It is designed to be used either as a strong side holster or Cross Draw. Not the cheapest but the delivery was one week.

lobogunleather shadow model dual carry with neutral cant.
can be used strong side or cross draw.
with a 5" barrel consider a shadow with a 20% rear cant for cross draw.

Since you are talking about a 5" N Frame, in Texas my guess is this is an open carry holster.
The El Paso Saddelry Street Combat style should work good if you are just walking around.
If you ride horses, and do things that bounce you around I would go with a thumb break retention holster like a Bianchi 5 BHL.
I have them in 4" K Frame, 4" N Frame and 6" N Frame sizes. They are just a good well made utility holster.

I had a shoulder rig made for my Witness 10mm because I could not find anyone that made a rig for this pistol. Haugen Handgun Leather.com (oneword)made the rig for me and it cost just as much as a Glaco miami classic would have cost if they made one for my 10mm. They also make holsters for revolvers so you might want to give them a look. I am VERY impressed with their work and quality on my rig.

I solved the problem by making my own. It probably wouldn't work well for competitive shooting but for knockin' around in the woods it's just fine...
