Copy of my permit in my EDC holster?
I have a bad habit of leaving my wallet at home or in my work van. I don't like to sit on it so when driving it often ends up in the console. I keep my WA state CPL next to my licence in it.
I'm worried that (God forbid) if I ever need to use my gun I may have left my permit at home or in my van.
I am considering making a copy and attaching it somehow to the holster just in case.
What are your thoughts? Would it be legal?
I am especially interested in hearing from LEO on if they think it'd be a good idea.

What are the penalties in your state? In FL it's a noncriminal $25 fine. Or, not enough to worry about. It's not going to make a good shoot bad because you left your license at home.

You mean as in "Excuse me Officer while I draw my permit from my holster”? Somehow that doesn’t sound quite safe to me. Some States like Penn let you copy your permit as often as you want. Here in Ohio I was able to get a duplicate from the same Sheriff Department that issues my original for a nominal fee. Check your State rules.

Ok, I am confused. You leave your wallet at home with your CPL next to your license in it because you do not like to sit on it when driving.
Since you leave your wallet at home, where is your drivers license to show an officer after a traffic accident or where is your identification in the event something went horribly wrong?
A person, even if out jogging, should have their ID with them anytime they are dressed and sometimes when they are not dressed.

Of course I mean to keep my wallet with my licence and CPL with me at all times. I just know that having a tendancy to leave it accidentally I was thinking of keeping a backup copy in my pocket holster with my j frame.

I always had to carry my weapon as well as a shield and id. If you lost the shield it was a 10 day rip. To this day I slap my back pocket before I leave the house to make sure I have a wallet.
It is just a matter of habit.

I just checked the Florida law. You must have the license on you.
If you don't, it is a non-criminal offense with a $25.00 fine.

You're behind. You could have just looked at the 3rd post and found out that.

+1
If a wallet is that big of an issue I suggest you get a card carrier or something similar you can keep on your person to carry you DL and CCW.

Agreed. I guess I'm over thinking this. To say just carry your wallet is like saying the answer to locking your keys in your car is to always remember you keys. Clearly.
After doing a bit of research and talking with an instructor at the range, I learned that here in Wa state not having your CPL on you is a minor infraction and the copy won't fly.
Also, if you get the wrong officer, you could potentialy lose your right to your cpl.
Now, after posting this I'm gonna go get my wallet from the van then grab a sweater just in case (thanks SIP) :-)

I just can't imagine how it is a good idea to keep a form of identification that you are carrying to show a cop in a holster....whether a copy is valid or not isn't even the point....saying "I got a permit" while reaching for your holster just seems....well, like the BAD idea of all BAD ideas.....

Where is it getting cool out? We are in our 44th day of temps in excess of 100 degrees with no rain.

Way back in boot camp, we were "encouraged" to carry our wallets in our shirt pockets. I've been doing so ever since. Today, I couldn't
begin to be comfortable while sitting on a wallet. When doing something that might cause its loss, I just button the pocket. TACC1
