Would you be so quick to shoot?

I read these threads and most assume the perp will be a man and stats would agree with that.

Now we are seeing more female perps and often a male perp will have a female accomplice.

Let's think about this for a minute.

Are you going to be as quick to fire upon a nice looking lady in her late teens or early 20's?

This area has at least four ladies waiting trial for Homicide 1. We have a couple more on appeal from a DP sentence and I think there is still on on Death Row.

The person that starts a home invasion will possibly be a young lady that is just getting you to open your door. The person rummaging through your home while you are gone is likely to be a woman as her male partner is carrying the goods out.

I have never had to fire or even draw on a woman. It would slow me down when facing shooting a lady my daughters age or one looking like Pam Anderson. I hope I never have to make the decision to do so.

A female will kill you just as dead, just as quick as a male. Self defense of one's life prefers no gender.....

If memory serves me correctly, while I was in Tucson a couple years back, a couple female perps tried an armed robbery of a customer in a Rite-Aid drive through line. The victim took the womans gun away and shot her with it! I guess the problem would be that once he disarmed her, she was unarmed and I question wether it would indeed be self defense. I was never able to find out how the case ended up but maybe one of the Tucson members can let us know. Personally I thought it was darnright poetic!

There is no sex or age when it comes to dealing with the enemy
(enemy = anything that is a danger to you)
Infact you should NEVER consider any enemy human.
To do so may cause you to pause ,,,for the last time in your life!

Hope I never find myself in a situation where I have to defend myself, but if someone is a threat to my life or my family, I will do what I have to do to protect myself & family. Gender of the threat is immaterial, a woman can kill you just as dead as a man can.
Though if it's a Pam Anderson clone the bullet will probably stop in her implants

I would hope it would be the same as for a nice looking well dressed young guy (Ivy League preppy type), or are you going to be quicker to gun him down than the female ?

Shooting a girl or woman would be tough, that's why I make sure that my wife knows how to run the weapons used for HD. In a serious threat other than stealing it probably wouldn't make much difference because of gender, race, religion or nationality, but it would have to be damn serious and I hope to never be in that terrible position. If you had to shoot Pam Anderson, be careful not to get any blood on yourself because of the Hep C.

I have to answer honestly and say I would probably take a little longer to bring the alarm response with a female than a male. This is not due to any thought that a female is less dangerous, it is more that I would think an attack was happening faster if it were a man. A very big factor would be place and situation, anyone breaking into my home will have a revolver pointed at them regardless.

If I saw a woman attempting to break into my home I wouldn't shoot her, even if she were armed. I'd simply give the shotgun to my wife and tell her the woman is the one I've been having an affair with. Of course I'd make sure there was only one shell in the gun.

Steve, I would NOT do that even if I only put one shell in the gun. I'm sure the first shot would be for me. Of course, she would then proceed to beat the girl to death with the empty gun

Great topic and interesting too. When I was on active duty, I arrested a female.. She was young early 20's.....She was stoned or wasted on something. I found her in an alley sitting on a pile of garbadge. I put her into the back of my patrol car. No cuffs and certainly no pat down (she was a female after all and we did not have a lot of female cops back then) I am taking her to jail for Public Intox and I feel something poking me through the wire kick screen. The girl was trying to stab me in the head with her 7 inch switch blade knife.....I was none to pleased....She got cuffed, and I called for a supervisor and we grabbed a citizen and conducted a search and found another switch blade hidden in her underwear......by the time I got her to the station she had slipped the cuffs from the rear to her front and had almost managed to wiggle out of one too....this girl was bent on causing physical destruction to us.....the hesitation was due to her gender. A male would have been cuffed and stuffed long before being placed into the car but with a girl we just did not repond the same way.

I have worked in women's prisons for the last 20 years and I have found that they will kill you quicker than most men. I have seen several incidents when dealing with women go from calm to violence in seconds. Afterwards some of them are sorry and some don't give a rat's butt as long as they got theirs in.

I have dealt with lifers, bank robbers husband and child killers and welfare cheats and one who killed a woman for calling her a name. Most of Manson's killers were women. So yes I would be just as quick.

And why, when being arrested, do women seem to know the most vulnerable place to kick a man? I don't recall a man deliberately trying to kick me there, but woman? A few times. We dealt with a woman who every Saturday night would get drunk and assault someone, usually another woman. Everyone was scared of her because she had no fear and would, literally, fight to the death. What was interesting is that sober she was as calm as a kitten, polite and easy to talk to. Often wished more of these folks smoked pot. Never had serious problems with potheads, but that booze....

Someone in east TX may be able to shed more light on this but a good looking 16 yr old girl is being charged with the murder of a young lady and her two children. After the murders, she set fire to the home where the bodies were found.

Was there any attempt at defending themselves from the girl, I do not know. Was there something else behind the murders?

Yet, I would be more apt to opening my door to a 16 yr old girl that is not known to me than a 16 yr old male. I would not have suspected a female to do such.

In this area, we had a young girl assist her boyfriend in killing a well liked pastor and his wife about three yrs ago. Again, nothing indicates any defensive action by the victims.
